Why does it matter that an 18 year old has a RX-8? Is there some kind of age group for the 8? Im not siding with him or anything but clearly it wasnt the aftermarket mods he did to his car's fault, an exhaust and intake? I mean maybe while they were installing it, it created some problems but that doesn't make it void of warranty .

Um, back to a basic issue associated with the warrenty and the Magnuson-Moss Act. I have read through the provided link (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/.../warranty.shtm) and cannot find where it expressly states it is the responsibility of the Warrantor to prove the modification was directly responsible for the failure. Is this covered under the Implied Warranty of Merchantability?

Thanks,
Tim

The modifications are probably NOT why he was denied warranty. Mazda has every right to deny warranty if they suspect abuse. No one will warranty abuse. I suspect that there is more to this story than meets the eye based on a few simple common facts.

1) Every story has two sides and we do not know what the other side is

2) The OP thinks the world owes him something and has proven himself a brat

3) Mario the guy who invalidated his warranty is known to be OK with mods

4) Kid has an extremely short temper...you think hes not going to be street racing everything that has a wheel? And in the process abusing the car because its not his?

This was presented as a...feel sorry for me post...just like he expects everyone to feel sorry for him because the world owes him something because its unfair.

You seriously think he will post that Mario denied warranty because they found it was nearly dry on sludged up oil due to no maintinence and frequent abuse?

Again if I were Mario I would have denied warranty just because of his attitude, but I do not think he is as cold hearted as I am. He more than likely denied warranty due to abuse or no maintinence just like any mazda dealership would.

The only reason he probably got it back was they changed the oil returned the car to stock condition to cover up the abuse, and then hit every other dealership while getting mommy or daddy to bitch MNAO out. Mazda tries to accomodate everyone so it was only a matter of time before "the customer is always right" caused them to cave.

This whole thing reeks of a one-sided cry for pity. I simply dont buy this "story" due to the facts listed and since I know how the real world works.

I dont think it is the fact that he is 18, from what Ive been reading its the way he is acting. Along with trying to say his parents owe him something. When in the real world nobody owes you ****. NOBODY. Not your parents not you co-workers not even your boss. Anything worth having is worth working for and in most cases you will have to work for it. This kid will not get far if he doesn't get rid of the attitude. Guess what life isnt always nice. Granted some ppl are taking this to the max, they are just helping the guy out. Hes gotta learn to grow some f'n callouses and move on. So what someone "angers" you....get over it.

Woah.... I really read this whole thing.

Anthony, glad your car is up and running. Make sure you maintain it and if you choose to mod it: become educated on cars, warranty etc. And dude lighten up, no one is shooting at you.

Anybody who starts going off on everyone, would get the same reaction, regardless of age.

The point of the warranty is that it covers the manufacturer's defects. If you go and mess with the item, how do we know it's the original configuration that stopped working. Once you make changes to it, it's no longer what the warranty covers. It's not the same item.

Anthony, a few observations...

1. If your parents gave you an RX-8, more power to you. If they've got the cash to spread around to pamper you in such a way, that's not necessarily your fault. What worries me is that the sense of entitlement that you seem to have about the world. My parents divorced when I was 8 and my mother remarried an abuser and cheater. I was shuffled between relatives from the time I was 15 until 18 because my mother left the city. I began my first job on my 15th birthday, had NO help buying my first car (an $800 '68 Firebird), and had to join the Army in order to get money for college. Does that mean my parents owe me a house? Hrm...maybe I should ask...

2. You're not picking up ANY credibility here by stating "F--- off everyone" and referring to members of these boards as "fagots" (which by the way you misspelled like so many other words in your posts). Collectively, this makes you sound exactly like a 16 year old punk...hence the reason so many folks are crapping on your parade. If you don't like it, change your tone so that you sound like you're actually worth listening to. Otherwise, put on your flamesuit and suck it up.

3. It appears, at least based on this thread, that you have a serious anger problem. You might want to talk to someone about it...it sounds like you're harboring something there that you need to discuss with a professional, especially if you're routinely using slurs such as "******". I'm probably not alone when I think that a 16 year old mentality + an anger problem + an RX-8 = TROUBLE. Try to not kill anyone with your car.

Man...I hope I didn't sound like you when I was 18. An ***-kicking would have been completely justified.

That had me on the verge of tears. Save that as a defense whenever life doesn't go as planned for you. Nobody will give a **** then either.

Given some of the **** I've read on this board I'd give you most, but not all.

I agree with one of the previous posters, if you took that attitude with the first service manager, he just decided to show you he doesn't have to take your ****.

Man there are some serious E-thugs up in here!

Being young and owning an 8 should equate to a win-win.

Being young, owning an 8, and posting on this forum equates to a lose-lose.

1. If an 18 year old expresses that he's been blessed to have been bought an 8, he's made fun of incessantly because the geriatrics who could finally afford a "sports car" for $19,000 are jealous, and won't ever take that poster seriously because of the stereotypical 18-year-old's reputation and mindset, whether it's warranted or not [the OP of this thread hasn't earned points through the thread, although his first post was meant to inform all of you seemingly-unappreciative a**holes]. The eighteen-year-old could be the most gracious and deserving individual on this forum and you ******** wouldn't see it.

2. If an 18 year old buys an 8 of his own means, it's even worse. He deals with the stigma of the stereotypical 18-year-old in addition to having to somehow warrant WHY he deserves an 8. You 40-somethings (no offense, but I HAD to pick an age group, since I truly don't know how old the stone-casters are) act as if you've had EVERY car you've ever driven bought for you, otherwise you'd know the EXACT feeling of appreciating something because YOU earned it.

Be careful, or the 18-25's on this forum will start making fun of the elders for their immaturity, which is evidenced in every single thread made by an 18-25, whatever its nature.

Umm...no being a jerk equates to a lose-lose...

This is an equal opportunity flame forum...age doesnt matter until the kids who have persecution complexes post on here and turn it INTO an age thing.

EVERYONE GETS FLAMED...hell I get flamed all the time...who the hell really cares? Thats part of the fun of the internet...part of the problem here is that all the freaking kids take myspace seriously...this isnt myspace ok? get over yourselves...

Yea...once again back to the old "geriatrics are jealous"...man cant your freaking age group come up with something at least more original and or plausible? I mean its like your not even trying...and its sad...its like not much brain effort at all to come up with something that MIGHT be closer to the truth.

Jealous...umm...ok...sure...I'm sure whatever you were told in preschool works in high school, myspace and maybe whatever planet you come from...but your fatal flaw is that this is earth...

Yea...oooo...a gang of kids run amok on an internet forum...thats a terrifying thought.

But since we live here on earth and not myspace...no one is going to care because the "grown ups" here can give a flying slice of toast who you flame and who you insult.

Unlike your myspace fights...fighting on the intertubes is retarded and the big boys who no longer wear diapers or get thier panties in a wad simply dont care...

So...yeah...go ahead and flame on spanky...get your gaggle of teenie bopper thugs...I am sooo terrified that I might soil my depends haa haa haa

Now get off my lawn!!!

I don't understand why it matters here when it didnt matter here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/track-addicts-direction-should-i-go-116935/

I didn't flame anyone. I stated a disappointing state of affairs. I find it sad that you're OK with letting this supposed sports-car owners club be treated like myspace, whatever the age of the poster.

I don't see anywhere where I said anything denigrating towards you, or anywhere where I targeted you. It is obvious from your reply that the sarcasm was lost on you.

I've put a sentence I found interesting in bold. By spending time to reply to me, aren't you negating your point? [AKA, by addressing me, you inherently care?]

If it were up to me, we'd ban all the idiots, trolls, and otherwise noncontributing forum members, whatever their age [unless they provided sufficient entertainment]. I think we can agree on that.

So you're seriously not an advocate of positive reinforcement to try and get people like the OP to tergiversate from their ways?
