Need Advice on a 2003 Model Rx8

Hey Guys,
I'm going to purchase my first Rx 8 car, this is a 2003 Model. Manual transmission, has done 126,000 Kilometers (Approx. 78,000 Miles). I've heard many rumors that since this car's production year has been in 2003, and since it has already been 10 years, I'm in the danger zone, which actually makes me change my mind, but i really like this car, so i thought i would ask the experts about this by opening up this forum.

I have inspected the car and got a full engine report and all seems fine.
but the engine light on dashboard has been on, and he said that due to some oxygen issue. Which i did not understand.

Also, the current owner has been using this car really well by servicing it every 3000 miles and has been taking good care of it.

I have also heard that the rotary engine needs to be replaced at 150,000 miles.
does this apply to a well maintained car ??

Also, spark plugs, coils are all good for another 6000 miles he said.

I just need to know whether it would be safe to purchase this car.

Get the facts and understand them. The check engine light is most worrying thing, if it's catalytic converter related, walk away. If they can't explain it to you clearly, walk away. Whatever it is, it's a problem you'll have to deal with, which could cost from $100 to $6000 in the case of a new engine, so... walk away.

30,000mi/50,000km is when the coils/plugs really should be changed, so if he's got 6,000mi more to go... they're basically almost finished. But find out how long they've been in there, not how long the guy thinks is left.

Some engines go 200,000 miles, some go 20,000. If the car has signs of problems.. it probably has problems.

Find out if the engine is original, by the way.

just approach it like the engine is bad, have it checked and go from there.

It really depends on how you take care of it. Some are less than that, and some are way less than that.

call mazda with the vin and find out all the service records. If it has anything major done to it, they will tell you. Read everything about the car in the new/potential owners thread to see if this is really the right first car for you.

No such animal. First RX-8 was in 2004.
Stay away from the 04, u will b sorry.

What you say does not make sense.......

Also, the current owner has been using this car really well by servicing it every 3000 miles and has been taking good care of it.

Then you say.....but the engine light on dashboard has been on, and he said that due to some oxygen issue.

those two statements do not sync
