Assume your car is brand new... firstly congrats.
Secondly, the burning smell is the unique smell of your new exhaust. You will have that everytime you change the catback. Although you think it is from the front, I am 90% sure it is the exhaust.
Stop worrying and enjoy the zoomzoom rotary :D
If your car has 3000+ miles please tell us more about what happened.

thanks a lot, but my car is already 6800miles right now. I think it's not the exhaust, because i smelled exhaust at that time, there is no burning smell. When i smelled the front tire(right one). There is burning smell. do you think there is something wrong with the brakes?

Burning brakes has a distinct smell. Ever get behind a big truck rig going down hill and its breaks are on? If it smells like that than perhaps the emergency brake was left on and you sometimes see smoke from around the wheels. Then if you just had an oil change perhaps someone dropped few drops on the exhaust. Since internet has not advanced to the point where we can smell things!! LOL, then it could be a host of things. Perhaps a wire hit the exhaust or you parked over a pile of leaves. Perhaps it was the car or truck parked next to you. On and on. So you need to describe the smell more. Like rotten eggs? What?

You might shine a flashlight were the oil filter is at and see if its dripping down onto the pipes. Actually I don't know what is below the filter but check anyway. Check your rear bumper around the exhaust pipes. I have seen some posts where some have had their bumpers start to melt near the rear pipes. That's where the chrome is at the end of the pipes. Start the car and get out and look perhaps with lots of sunshine and see if you see any smoke trails of some kind. Open the hood while its running and see if you see any smoke around the engine. Take the access cover off to do this. That might point you for some simple things to do. Feel the each front tire and see if one is hotter than the other. If a brake caliper were stuck the brakes would pulsate or act strange when you hit the brakes. Then the car would pull either right or left sharply. Since its rubber you might have something attached underneath to the exhaust system somewhere. If you have access to a lift perhaps look under the car while its on the lift or have a mechanic to do a quick look. You and try these and see if you can locate the source of the burning rubber. Good luck. If this persists than by all means get it to a dealer to look for the source.

Taka, the American election is a tough one to pick. I learnt a fair bit about Kerry from CNN and the Armed Forces Network channel while I was O/S in July....their campaign is such a long one, the winner will be the one who performs the best in the last few weeks IMO. I'm leaning towards Kerry. This will be my last comment on Yank politics....Jason and the other guys on this forum can duke it out in the Lounge .
