Question Need Help

Im looking at the rx-8 this weeknd and they have a couple of them wtih different options.... i can get an 8 out the door for 24,719(s-plan).. it comes with spoiler and spare tire kit. now... are the options really worth the extra dough? like the sports package and wat not? keep in mind im 20 years old and i will be paying for this myself. i work full-time at mellon fiancial in downtown pittsburgh and also a full-time student so every penny counts.... give me ur thoughts.. thanks!

Dude
Buy what you can afford.
You will be still getting a great car.
I like the looks of the spoiler,
I have it and the spare tire kit - which I dont think is needed

Though tempting as hell and, I can really just afford it, you should set your sites on something practical until your life gets more stable. It is a terrible trend in America for people to get a car because they love it and can just afford it. That is why you see so many people trying to sell their cars for more than what it is worth. They paid little or no down and then after a year or so the magic wears off and they get to realize they really could use the money on better things. Too late at that point. Take note of all the dealer ads stating "we will pay off your trade no matter how much you owe!" They know you were dumb on the first buy and will glady continue to screw just as the first dealer did. Don't fall for the crap. Be reasonable until you can really afford what you want. I know not popular in America now, start a trend and be smarter than most your age group!

Ditto scottmhr1 . . .

Buy a cheep car until you have completed your education. Buy a used car or get one really cheep from a family member. I have two sons in college and both are driving used cars. I sold a 98 Maxima to one of them for $1000. It's a great car and he can drive it a long time. If he had to pay 3-4-5 hundred bucks a month plus his insurance, he would be living for his car and you don't want to do that. My motto... "Live below your means"

A new car at this point in your life may be a mistake.

However, if you just have to do it... I would suggest you make sure it has DSC. Many here will say it's not needed but I'm a STRONG believer in it. Do a search and you will find arguments on both sides but you just need to be aware of it when you make your purchase. If you are buying it for a sports car then get the 6 MT. If you live in the city and don't like shifting constantly then get an AT.

I don't know what color you were looking at, but if you can afford this it might be of interest http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I'm going to look for a white one in MD this weekend (although I know I can afford it so I agree you should consider this), but if you like the options, it might be worth it.
