Need Help... Alarm install gone wrong
well i was getting a viper 5901 installed and then when we tried to start the car the engine light comes up, but then i noticed that none of the interior lights nor does the dash or radio power up, on top of that unlock and lock and also the trunk release on the remote does not work at all!
we even tried to put everything back the way it was, but we still could not figure it out. what could be wrong here?

when we looked under the steering wheel, all the cables were messed up and taped together, and there were some that were not even connected to each other
so after trying to add the alarm with posi-taps something went wrong

so far for the list of things that dont work as of right now are:
radio/head unit (but air/heat work)
stock alarm
trunk release
map/door/dome/trunk lights
lock/unlock on keys

i checked all the fuses, it turns out it was just a blown fuse (Room 15A) which was the only fuse blown...
ahhh... now i can relax!
i was worried there for a bit

well i dont have any pics, cause he hid it under the steering wheel where all the wire harnesses are, but it is F*UCKING AWSOME!! (but my installer did not want to install the Remote Start for obvious reasons)
i added the tilt sensor myself, but do your self a favor and install it in the center console. what i did was remove the front part of the center console and on the underside right in front of the seat warmers is where i placed the tilt sensor. i also put the sensitivity on high, because some friends of mine think its cool to sit on the car.... anyway i also plan on installing the proximity sensor for it too!
my only problem is that my installer did not wire the lights to them, so when it alarms it does not flash the emergency lights (but eh)
So far though i really like it, i love the fact that i dont have to go back and check if i locked the car (1 mile range) also i like the car finder (basically a small chirp until you find it)
Also i was amazed that it also tells me the interior temperature of the car on one of the responders (did not know that when i bought it)

Well atleast the problem was solved.
My neighbor's car's window was bashed in yesterday and I am tempted to upgrade to an aftermarket alarm. In fear of some interior goodies I have.
I see the remote start... Auto trans or Manual?

well i spoke with a lot of shops and they all said the same thing, because they said that they could be liable for installing Remote Start on a manual. if i had an automatic they said it would not be a problem but with a manual they say that it could be dangerous because if someone leaves your car in gear it could roll (i dont know how that is possible because the E-Brake is up but oh well)
if you are thinking of getting one i suggest getting the proximity sensor and set it to medium (so it does not trip the alarm by someone putting groceries or getting into their car next to yours) because its best to let the crook (bastard) know that you have an alarm BEFORE THEY SMASH YOUR WINDOW!
i saw that Viper sells a glass break sensor, but i was thinking that "wouldnt that be useless" because by that time they probably stole what ever they wanted anyways plus im sure breaking the window would at least trip the shock sensor anyway.
but the tilt sensor is used for if someone decides to tow/sit/ or try to steal your rims
theres also a "pain siren" that you install INSIDE the cabin, so that if the alarm trips it sends a painful sound... but i suggest not using it because if you accidentally trip the alarm.... lets just hope your ear drums dont hurt too much!

WOW! I'd be so angry at my dad if he did that.
I'm glad to hear the Viper is good. My buddy's GTO just got broken into, and I park next to it almost every week...
So needless to say, it's got me frightened.

see luckily im the only one in my family that knows how to drive stick, and i never loan out my car unless im in the car already so there is no problem there, but damn that sucks!
but i still feel like i want it though.. i mean there are those days where its really hot or cold and just feel like if i had remote start i can warm up the engine and get heat or cold AC running already waiting for me! (the 1Mi range)
