well, though the name "short shifter" gives the general idea behind what it does, there are a few other benefits. I'm not sure if you've ever had this issue, but before I got the RP short shifter and I would try to quicky shift into 2nd from 1st, it felt like there was a wall and I would miss the gear. Since getting the short shifter I've never had that problem, missed a gear maybe once or twice and those were purely my fault
