Dave,
21K for a car with 2500 miles is a STEAL!
i bought mine for $20K with 13K miles on it for the GT + appearance package.
just see if you can knock off a few hundred more dollars before you agree to sign anything.
and dont sweat about the insurance.. i went through Country Insurance and the RX-8 is cheaper than my V6 2000 Honda Accord by 30 bucks! granted now i have the multi-car discount premium... but still you'll be happy with your decision.
see if you can get an extended warranty as well. so you have peace of mind.

I suppose I could always turn around and sell it if it doesn't work out for me. Maybe even turn a profit! But I'm betting I will love it. I'll let you know how it goes.
Also, if there are certain options you want or a certain color and you can't find it in Michigan, maybe consider taking the fairy to Milwaukee. I was at a dealership called Russ Darrow Mazda a month or so ago and they had about 10 leftover '05s, I'm sure they still have some and you should be able to get the same deal or better.
If you can live with averaging beween 15-20 mpg in mixed driving, go for it.

Why would a Ford dealer be selling a new untitled mazda? Is it one of those multi brand dealerships where the salesman can sell any of the brands?
Either way, 21+tax title license is too much unless it's touring/gt

I have seen this a number of times. I had a girl-friend (many years ago) who was the daughter of the owner of a Ford dealership. She would drive a car for 3 or 4 months (200+miles), then bring it back, where they would sell it, as new.

that's fishy stuff...
in that case, ask for 18K !tell them that GT models fully loaded were selling for 21K used.

Lol......small world! I would have preferred blue, but for 8k I think I'll be ok w/ silver. Has Brion Frost gotten in touch with you yet? He works in your building (I'm at 36th St.) and is the one that pointed me to you. I told him you were a rotary/performance kind of guy and he said he'd be callin you.

Yes, it's a Ford / Mazda dealership. I'm curious though, why you think it's too much without the touring package. I've looked at prices on-line from all over the country, both new and used and this is lower than anything I've seen. Also everyone else on here that replied seemed to think it was a great deal. Not saying you're wrong necessarily. I just don't seem to be looking at the same data that you are.

I would be scared of buying a TEST-DRIVE (DEMO) car, no matter what it is, but even more so in this case since the rotary engine is a sensitive lady and the break-in procedure was likely not followed at all during those 85 miles.
Just me though.

Are you seriously telling me that this car is so fragile that a couple of people taking it for a test drive could destroy it in less than 100 miles?? I would think someone would have to try extremely hard to intentionally mess a car up to do any damage in less than 100 miles. And with a salesman sitting there next to you, I doubt that kind of malice would be attempted.

Bought mine as a demo, it was driven by the Sales Manager........had 5k on it, never hesitated, have had no problems. Some people are just ****, when they buy new, they want it absolutely new. I just did a ding check and signed the dotted line!

Dave, are you superstitious? Search this site for curse of the silver.
Also, be sure to keep some extra money on hand for winter tires and wheels. Or plan to keep the Geo for a winter beater. The stock tires are summer performance and unsuitable for cold or slippery conditions.

Incredible ride, nice and smooth. Super quick in and out of corners. 21k for 05 w/100 miles is pretty good. If it is a base model (ie. no DSC, traction control, spoiler, moonroof, or appearance stuff) you can work that price down a grand or more b/c of the 06's sitting on the lot. If it has some of the above options it is an excellent price. 100 miles is dealer/test drive stuff, so it's unlikely a problem car, but carfax never hurts. Drive fast!

Salesmen don't give a **** what you do to the car as they can always find a sucker to buy it.

[QUOTE=Freddie]I've driven my 2005 stick shift RX-8 just about 5,000 miles since I bought her in October of last year. [QUOTE]
Dude, I just bought mine in February of THIS year and I already have 4500 miles on it and counting... do you only drive yours on the weekends or something???
As for the guy who started this thread... If the one your looking at is a GT, with everything except Nav. then buy it, its a damn good deal. Like someone elese said, it wont have the straight line performance of the Mustang, but what it lacks in that is more than made up for in styling (inside and out) and handling.
My RX8 was a test-drive car as well, but it didnt really scare me... I looked over the car from top to bottom, listened to the engine and clutch, drove it of course, and everything seemed to be perfect. Maybe my clutch will go 2k miles earlier than most people, but I imagine that would be it. Any damage done during a test drive surely couldnt be enough to effect the car in the next 7 years, besides what you would normally have to replace by then. Dont let the fact that its a 100 mile test drive car scare you.
Sounds like a good fit if you like the car. GOOD LUCK and ENJOY!

Ahhhhhh. I guess this thread is getting too long for my hops and barley-soaked brain cells. By the way....Just picked up my NEW RX8 about 30 minutes ago! Can't believe I actually went right back to work from the dealership! :-)
