Welcome to the forum!
Insurance is pretty good for the 8 but at your age you're going to pay through the nose.. Shop around.
Don't go to the dealer for ***** and things. The vendor section on this site an help you out. I would suggest a Voodoo shift ****; it costs about 1/4 of what an OEM **** costs.

Insurance depends alot on where you live.
I am 23, and I am paying about 800 every 6 months for full coverage here in CT. When I was living in NC, it was around 450 for 6 months with the same coverage.

Dang, you people are lucky! I insured the vehicle when I was 21, I've had it for a year now and I pay $230 per month for full coverage. Although I do live in Canada. We are getting railed up here for insurance!

WTF? How the hell did you guys get insurance so freaking cheap?!
For my '07 MT V/R in Florida, I pay $1,200 for 6 months! I'm 21 years old with no accidents and no speeding tickets.
WTF?!?!?

Your best bet is to get a quote online or through a broker. People here quoting you their rates won't do you any good. As you can see, it varies a lot.
And for the cheap insurance, there are several reasons for that. My guess is for those that are young, they are secondary/occasional drivers under their parents insurance.

Don't know if you'd define me as "young" or not, but I am the primary driver and it's in my name. I have State Farm (which has better rates as far as I have seen, but they will likely drop you if they have to pay a claim.) It's been described to me as insurance for people who don't get in accidents. I also managed to keep my sister's driving record when I started driving (weird thing with becoming the primary driver on our 88 escort) so I have the equivalent of a a clean record since I was 13.

State farm 69.00 a month
Your best bet is to call a few different places , its going to be different pretty much for everyone . It's base on where you live , zip code , age , record and some other goddies.
If possible pick a good company , like always you get what you pay for . ( trust me I now that )

I went to school in Florida, and I looked into insurance while I was there, and I found out that Florida is typically more expensive, and the main reason for that is the no fault law that Florida has. Insurance companies don't like the law because it means they will have to pay out something regardless of who's fault it is, so they charge more for insurance rates. Most states do not have a no fault law. For those who do, it completely sucks.
The RX-8 is generally cheaper to insure when compared to other sports cars. Make sure when you get insurance the insurance company has it classified as a 4 door and make sure all the safety features are included (ABS, Side/Front Airbags, DSC (if yours has it)). All of that helps reduce the rate. I pay about $400 every 6 months, and I'm 23.

One thing I forgot to mention was that I have discounts for multi-line (home insurance) and good student (they keep it going after you graduate until 25.) Both those drop the price considerably.

oh it doesn't matter whether they classify it as 2 or 4 door...it depends what rate group they assign it to...
