Need tint job for my briliant black - n00b needs suggestions
Hello all,
After having my car broken into I think getting some tint on my windows seems like a good idea. I have a Brilliant black RX8 and first off I am kinda torn between a regular black tint (i dont know how far legally i can go % wise) or some type of Mirror looking tint. What would you reccommend?
I dont know how much it would cost, im assuming 200 or 300 dollars for a GOOD tint job along with the warrenty of no bubbles or defects for the life of it?
I doubt anyone would know any shops in the Fort Worth, TX area but I'll ask anyway if anyone has a place they have expereicen with.
How long does a tint job usually take (to do it right?)
Thanks!
Jeff

I'm in miami fl but I know a few places that use very good tint and give life time on it for about 100-125$ I would never pay more then that for tint.
It takes about 1 hour of work to do.
I have a black rx-8 also and I had 20% put on it for 110$. It's just black tint but its not the cheap stuff that turns purple in a year. It's pretty hard to see in the 20% from far, but if your right up on the glass you can see in.

haha Dice. You r Uber funny.
One note bout breaking in... Tint does mask your goodies a bit better. Bad part is, if someone breaks your window the tint does a great job of muffling the sound and keeping the shattered glass intact so a potential thief can bend the window in to gain access rather than dealing with a mess of glass all over the place.
Just something to think about. 1 problem begets another. I used to rock 35% myself but not on my 8 just yet.

thank you for your replies. Its good to know about the price range thing. I guess I will go with what I was thinking in the first place and stay with black tint. Afterall gotta keep with the theme of the car.
Sucks to know about how tint will mask the sound of another break in.

27% is the lowest legal tint here. They did it on my car for 170.$ Very good quality. I think you should go for around 25% or so with your BB. On my brother's RSX, which is black he has a 35% and on my other brother's 03 Red Accord he has 35% and it looks to light. I think Black with kind of a darker black tint would look hot.

My BB has black tint, 15% on the back and 30% on the sides from formula one for about $130 with the lifetime warranty and mid-grade film. I was a little reluctant to go with the 15 on the back at first but glad I did has it helps with headlights and I dont have to adjust the mirror at night(I dont have the autodimming).

If you want to get high quality tint, go for huper optik. It will cost more than 200 bucks to get it installed, but it's well worth it.
If you just want tint to make it more difficult to see into your car, then get the cheapest tint they offer.
I posted a thread in the gulf forum asked where people recommended for a tint, if you searched for that I'm sure you'd get a few good places here in the dfdub.

Jeff-post this in gulf (or bump an old tint thread) and you'll get lots of replies.
In the dallas/plano area, Altamere in Plano or Pro-tint in dallas are good picks.
I believe (can't remember for sure) but 35 is as dark as you can go on the front windows.
Edit: I got Llumar from Altamere in plano. They were concerned that the huper would be too hard to do a one-piece install on the rear glass, although I know people who have had it done.
