Never introduced myself
I was poking through the forum as I often do when I'm bored and came to realize I never introduced myself. There isn't a "new members introduce yourself" thread as most forums have and didn't even think of it till now. perhaps something to bring up in the "How to make this site better" section.
Anyway, My name is Bill. I have a 2010 RX8 R3 Velocity Red I bought on July 8 2011. I got the car brand new from Old Saybrook Mazda/Kia in Connecticut. Given that the car was a 2010 left over and they mismarked it as a turbo (idiots) I got a smokin' deal on it. When I first went to look at the car the battery was dead. We had to jump it with my truck just to see it run. The lead Mazda tech said it was because they didn't start and idle that car to charge regularly like their other cars in stock because of the engine. I didnt know it at the time but apparently that was a good thing. They gave me a new Interstate battery.
I got married in June and this car was my wedding present to myself. She got the wedding of her dreams, I got the car of my dreams. We both made out I think. As a front plate i have an expired 2010 Aruba license plate I bought off a street vendor while on my honeymoon. Probably about once a week a stranger will ask me either "do I get **** from the cops for that plate" or "was that car imported from Aruba" I told someone once that I robbed a bank in Aruba and that is the plate from the get-away-car I keep as a memento. He started laughing till I told him I used the loot to buy this car and the rest I spent on establishing a new identity. I think he really believed me.
This site has been really helpful in building this noob's knowledge and understanding about rotary cars. Ive never owned one before and am really happy to be part of the club. I love having something unique that most people don't even know anything about let alone have one.
I will also take this time to apologize to Teamrx8. My first noob post a few months ago was a dumb **** post about racing and he called me out on it. I was pissed at first but now realize I was stupid and I see how it came across.
Thanks everyone for keeping up an excellent website!
