Sucks, I'm ALL the way to the East. Closest people are like Connecticut or New York.

i think that is normal in traffic.

that should be normal as well since 8 does not have too much torque at low RPM..

but correct me if if am wrong.

That's the lowest considering your spark plugs are good too. If you don't know their condition it would be wise to get them at the same time as the ignition kit, which makes it around 560 I think. I don't have the mod but there are a lot of people that do and I haven't heard any complaints. The next time I need to replace my ignition I will be looking at this.

Well goodluck with the car!!!

I recommend going in 5th gear and redlining it, that'll get rid of all the carbon you ever had

Good luck. The RX-8 is a finicky car compared to something like a Honda Civic. Make sure you have spare dough for 8 maintenance and unexpected issues.

Sending you a PM, but I live in Providence RI, I can certainly meet up with you to check things out, show you some stuff hands on, rather than reading. More than happy to assist. I would have seen this thread earlier if I hadn't been crawling through south side Chicago stores today

Most 8 drivers do redline few times a day to rid of the carbon, however I still think it doesn't generate enough heat to do that. When I go for a hill run, I keep my rpm at 5000-redline for about 20-30 minutes for each run, and shift only between 1st-3rd gear, the engine definitely runs much smoother after that.

So when I don't go for a hill run, in normal traffic I would use 2nd gear and keep at about 5-7000 rpm, this way I won't go over the speed limit and have enough air for cooling. I keep it in 2nd gear for about may be 5-10mins, and keep varying my speed a little, which means don't keep at the same high rpm for too long, vary between 5-7000rpm, all the way to redline isn't neccessary imho, just adding stress to the bearings.

It's possible that he just told you that he never Redlined it... Maybe he did it all the time and just didnt want you to think he was abusing the car or something..
