New 2006 RX-8 Shinka :) Yes!! Pictures

EDIT: Can anyone else see the pics? They don't show up on my computer.

I actually purchased this car about a month ago but I hadn't got around to taking pictures until today.

I tried taking them last night. I am a film student and in one of my art highs I decided the best time to take it out was during a thunderstorm so that I could get dramatic lighting and the rain would be a nice touch . Needless to say I can't really shoot perfected images on my father's 5.0MP camera, in the rain, without a tripod.

Images are taken next to my father's BMW 325i just for fun.

NOTE: In case the images aren't showing up which I believe they aren't, here is a link to the first picture in the putfile album.

http://www.putfile.com/pic/8050171?pos=top

Just click next. If you hit pictures of lasers you've gone too far.

Anyways, I just got back, so here they are:

This is my favorite picture

The deal was: I send my parents to Kiawah Island for a week over their 25th anniversary, and they fund half of this car. Needless to say, they had a lot of fun in Kiawah.

My father has the best license plate ever. He's British and consequently loves wallace and gromit...

That IS the question. I don't know I clicked the image button and it put tags around the links but for some reason It's not showing up. I posted a direct link to the first image of the album to circumvent the problem. I will fix it tonight I have to go out soon.

It's not a Shinka. Shinka has white/cream color leather called alcantara.

Yeah I'm not poking fun because I've seen this happen to a couple people and they usually go back to the dealership and get $3000-$6000 in upgrades for false advertisement or fraud from the dealership. I don't like to see people get ripped off. Did they even have the brown and black leather in 2006? I've only seen it on 04's and 05's.

I hope the seller didn't hoodwink you into paying a Shinka price for a non-Shinka car.

It looks like a galaxy grey...that was available in 06, but with the interior and lack of "identification" on the b-pillars, I honestly think it's not a Shinka as well. The young man is happy with the car...thats the most important part. Possibly he and his parents can do something about the financing or get their maintenance thrown in for free, to offset any intentional or non intentional fraudulence.

If it wasn't bought at a Mazda dealer it very well could have been an honest mistake, but financially it needs to be rectified.

Front passenger seat. Sorry, thats my co-pilot!

I would take a look at the media forum and decide what to share out of the 67 pictures you took, then put them in the appropriate forum. Quality before quantity because 5 seconds is about all the patience viewers have on the internet. I never made it to the "lightning and rain" photos, so at least put those first.

Lots of people take pictures of ugly cars and share them here, forgetting that this is rx8club and there are aesthetic standards to meet. I'm speaking about the BMW.

I just did a test and was able to display photos from your putfile album. Computer literacy is probably important to learn if you are interested in sharing your art with others in the future.

However, before sharing photos on this page you need to resize them. When I did the test it stretched out the discussion viewing width. So, in a way, it's a good thing that you don't know how to post them.

It's a good thing you're a film student, so I know beforehand that you can take harsh criticism, constructive or not.

If that's true than I have a helluva bone to pick with the dealership, seeing as how it was over 2k extra. I am going to an RX-8 meet tonight to confirm and I will post my findings here when I get home.

Huh, I wonder if they turned back the mileage meter as well?

At this point and from the information at hand it appears that he did. Either way this issue will be resolved, hopefully diplomatically, if not than legally. The fact is that we didn't find out that it was a shinka until we reached the dealership in person. They told us on the phone that the "car had just been traded for a hatchback by a guy who just had twins" or somesuch.

If THAT's true than I am going to have a huge problem. The fact is that one of the parameters for this purchase was that it was a 2006 or later vehicle, to avoid problems with seals and spark plugs.

Ha I was just wondering the same thing. I'm only 22 but damn times have changed. I can only imagine driving around RX8s and firing automatic weapons when I was 12 years old.

I'm not trying to be mean...but when I notice something..I have to say it...

We know it's not a Shinka (that's obvious) but I get the feeling that the car is not even his... He just looks way too young... If you notice the pic of him sitting in the driver seat, it looks like he can't even sit up high enough...

I say 13 yrs old tops.... It may be his older brother or sister's car....

If I'm wrong, my apologies...Welcome and enjoy your new car!!

P.S. If your car doesn't say SHINKA on either side of the center piece between your exterior windows... it's NOT a Shinka.....

Haha, I won't. Those pictures are from the 2004 **** creek machine gun shoot in kentucky. They load cars with tannerite, rent you a good MG for 30 bucks, and let you let loose. I plan to contact the dealership tomorrow.

All in all it cost me 10K with my parents paying a further 10. I put the 10k down and my parents are making the payments of about 300/month for 4 years I think.

No prob, I get that a lot for some reason...I don't know what it is, people think my father is in his 40s when he's actually pushing 60 (it must be the british genes)I am in high school, I have had my license for a year or so now. I do have a sister but she attends USC and owns a prius I believe. Also, Its not that I can't sit up high enough as much as it is I can't get my head out of the window. Something about the RX-8...I have the same problem when I'm trying to take those tickets from those machines at the entrances to parking lots, I always have to literally get out of the car and walk to it because for some reason I can't get far enough out the window to grab it.

Yeah. I just got back from it, they're awesome people, one dude has an exhaust that sounds like you stuck your head in a fighter planes tailpipe.

I'm still a little confused about this whole shinka business, because the VIN identifies it as a shinka, and the insurance operative identified it as a shinka, so all of the documents say it's a shinka, except for some reason it isn't a shinka. Not that I really care about this improvements, I care more about the wasted cash.
