New 8 Owner
I finally made the leap from RX7 FC to RX8(6sp) yesterday, and damn life is good. But now im a noobie again, and admittingly im not as knologable about the fancy new 8 stuff as i was with the 7. So I have a few questions.
-Whats the DSC button?
-Does the GT/TR versions have badging?, i got GT options like heated seats, leather, moonroof, ect. and i was wondering if it was a GT.
-Is LSD standard, and if not how can ya tell?
-Can I use synthetic oils in the new Renesis?

The "Driver ******* Control" button it is an extremely useful feature when you need to use the bathroom on the go. we all know that sometimes, when you gotta go you gotta go right?
you press the DSC button, and a machinized cover will disengage on your seat leaving a hole open beneath your ****. at which point you are free to do your business, and your excrement will fall onto the road surface. another press of the button and the hole on your seat will close up back into its normal position. it is a very innovative and ground breaking feature.
DSC actually stands for something like Driver Stability Control, when its on, the computer will control traction for you and prevent you from slipping all over the place in the event that you start to loose traction.
LSD is standard on the rear wheels

haha playdoh that actually made me laugh hahahaha, but it really stands for Dynamic Stability Control and it works with your traction control to make sure you don't slip on ice, wet surfaces, etc.....
i have a regular 6spd 8 so i dont know about any GT options
LSD is standard on all 8's like playdoh said
and no you shouldn't use synthetic motor oil, because mazda doesn't know the long term effects of synthetic oil such as (mobil 1).... you should use an oil thats non-synthetic, that meets requirements of ILSAC which will be shown on the back of the bottle.... i use PENNZOIL advanced protection 5W-20 which is good.....
congrats on getting the 8, best investment! good luck

One more point on the synthetic oil. The, ah, experienced subject matter experts have recommended using the dino-oil for the first 1,000 miles or so to break in the seals before switching to synthetic. Obviously, you have to make your own decisions, but I thought that data-point was worth mentioning.
If you search for synthetic oil you'll find several threads with dozens or hundreds of replies including RotaryGod's Oil Blogg.
Did you buy new or used? If it was new you should have a window sticker and an invoice sheet from the dealer which tells you trim and the absolute truth about options packing. If you bought used from a private party you might be able to get those from them.

I kept my FC (87 Sport). I handed it down to my son to drive. It always amazes me that a car that is as good looking and fun as a 2nd gen. RX-7 is worth so little.
