New Buyer
hello everyone, I am an 18 year old student attending college. and i know many of you don't take too kindly to teenagers looking into purchasing a mazda rx8 but i can tell you that this is the car i have dreamed of since i was in 8th grade. i know much about it and much of it's mantenance and i am fully prepared to what's coming to me with the rx8. just finally posting my first post here on the website and introducing my to the community. I'm looking into purchasing my rx8 in the next 2-3 weeks. nice to meet you all :D

welcome.
Some recent additions to the knowledge base, specifically directed to new owners, are included in the $100 link in my sig. Especially look at the thread pointed to for prospective buyers. These are both in the past few weeks.

Congrats and good luck with finding the 8 for you. Glad to see someone doing their research first. Welcome to the club.
Most threads seem to turn teenagers away because the don't do any research themselves, don't understand the cost of ownership, and seem to be a little immature when responding to criticism and comments from other posters. As a community, we are car, mazda, rotary and 8 enthusiasts. A little part of us dies when we see someone who wants the car but can't afford to take care of it, neglect it, total it, or ruin it all while bitching about what a terrible car it was.
There have been and are plenty of success stories and young owners though. I'm sure some of them will chime in and they are great contributers to the community and have paved the way for new owners.
Read up on the stickies and FAQ's, check out RIWPP's thread for new and potential owners, and just peruse the forum as I'm sure you're doing. This really is a great community, you just need to build a tough skin to get through your first few posts. Check the For Sale section and the regional forums and For Sales. You might be able to find the 8 of your dreams right here on the site. Also, people in your area might be willing to help you check out cars with you and you'll make some new friends along the way.
