Question New Engine = New Warrenty???

So I'm getting a new Engine in my car right. Does this mean my warranty will be starting over?
My contract states; 100,000 mile warranty or 7 years (Which ever comes first).

Nope. As a rule, you'll get the balance of your old warranty applied to your new engine.

That's all you are entitled to.

Nope, won't have that either since your odometer won't be changing...

Yeah I know. But it will be new. It will have 0miles on it if you think about it. I guess they count them miles on the complet car. Just that they will not move the odo. So will I have to break her in all over agen?

you can't get a new warranty on an old drivetrain wouldn't really be fair, but they should give you an extra year and 10000 miles because of it. was the engine defective or was the damage to it your fault?

I think you'll wind up getting a 'warranty' for a refurbished engine which will probably be independent of anything you already have, which will probably be something to the amount of a year or 12,000 miles whichever expires first.

Pretty sure that you just get the remaining factory warranty coverage. Now if you bought the engine or part yourself you would get a 1 year/12k warranty.

Oh no guys check this out,

The explanation that I got from my service tech was this is happening in three cities in the US. The first 46K miles on my car were in Seattle where I had no problems.

The service manager informed me that this was an ECU issue in which the computer did not allow for enough oil to be injected due to load, altitude and temp conditions. He said that the computer has be flashed with the update to fix the cause but the damage has been done. So they are replacing my engine with a reman. The good news is I get 12 months and 12K miles more in warrenty.

Dominion, he likely gets an extra year for his engine since his warrenty expires in 3k miles.

Can't believe this is controversial. The new engine should carry a 1yr/12 k miles replacement parts warranty, which runs concurrent with the new car warranty unless the engine swap is after 38000.

I had mine swapped under the "Mazda wants some high-mileage Reneses for study" program at 34,000, and that's the line my dealer gave about the engine warranty.

OK just got back from picking up my 8. Runs like a champ

Thing is I dont think they replaced the Engine. Everything on the page is like "HOSE,OIL" "SCREW" "SCREW & WA" "BOLT" and "RIVET" This is the only thing I can find on the page refering to a Engine is;

FP-Number=K008-99-008R-54 Description=ENG.REMAN/-UNIT PRICE=WARRANTY

If you have had your Engine replaced can you tell me whats on your page/print out? Thank you.
I'll scan the pages later. I still have to meet with the service manager to get the rental car fee's worked out.

That means you got a remanufactured engine / A.K.A Re-built. You didn't think they were going to give you a brand new engine from Japan.

No I was not thinking that. I was told by other members that its a rebuild. But I guess the "ENG.REMAN" is what I did not under stand on the paper.
Thanks for the help expo1

You should also follow the new engine break-in and take it easy for about 600 miles. I would also do an oil change around 600 miles also.
