New Engine in my Shinka(Black Cherry)

I just got my 8 back after 6 days of not having her.

Mazda put a new engine in My Shinka after it failed a compression test w/ only 33k. They also gave me some other goodies for free including a rental for the time I did not have the car.

However, they didn't tell me what exactly happened to have it fail the test, guess I will never know.

Just wanted to sing Mazda's praises for the service and to say I miss this site now since my work has had it blocked since I started working there in April.

Best wishes to all and happy holidays...

When a dealer replaces and engine under warranty b/c of major mechanical failure they usually don't diagnosis why it failed. The techs wouldn’t be paid to do so b/c it wouldn’t be necessary. The simply make a warranty claim and ship the motor back to the manufacture who will then study the failure - at least that’s what we did at the GM and Nissan dealers I worked at.

if its *completely broken* of course they wont diagnosis it.

but usually, at least under Mazda's guideline is that, you have to run compression test, but since most dealerships are morons and just cant do the compression test right(either too fast or too slow or wrong order), they came up with Vacuum test.

If it fail the test, then yes they will go ahead and order a *reman*, ship to the dealership, then the dealership will pack the old one and ship it back so Mazda can *reman* it again.

I'll never understand why some people around here think getting a new engine is a good thing. You think your resale values are bad now... Just wait til some used cars his the market with "Only 4,000 miles on the new engine!". It'll be enough to scare the crap out of a lot of people that may have considered the car before being clued into the fact that the Renesis is failing at a pretty high rate.

I sold my '99 Miata with a replaced engine… the buyer was quite pleased with the fact that he was getting a 2-year old car with an engine that had only 1,300 miles on it.

And please… the Renesis is hardly 'failing at a pretty high rate"! Good to see the swiftboating of the Renesis continues here in the bizarro, sky-is-falling, "I think it's safe to say there'll be no 2006 RX-8", "global warming finally put to rest" land of RX8club.com.

Yea, they told me that they would not be looking into since Mazda doesnt require them to, so I guess will just remain a mystery me to me. Just happy to have my ride back.
