The title says it all! Yesterday I picked up a new Brilliant Black R3, after my lease ended for my 07 Touring AT. As someone who really never drove a manual transmission vehicle, I must say it's quite a fun process that I can't believe I've missed before.

Here are a few camera phone pictures I took for the time being. I should be posting some better pictures later this weekend from my DSLR camera.

As for stalling... well, I can tell you that is not happening anymore, lol.

You never appreciate just how hot an R3 is until you see it next to an older stock RX-8... your old 8 looks almost dumpy compared to the R3.

 

TBH that is the best looking 8 i have seen in ahwile, after seeing that i no longer dislike the 09's

While it does not have the sunroof option, I think it's other amenities pays off for the lack of it.

- Bluetooth is a great option I've never had before.
- Satellite radio is great
- The Recaro seats are perfect for me (other than the seat belt getting stuck behind it)
- The ride feels like a major improvement from what I've driven before (less body roll).

These are only a few things which I truly love over the previous model I drove.

I did like the Aurora Blue color, however when I saw the black, I completely changed my mind.

I know there's a lot of bashing on AT's here, but my experience with the previous 8 was great. I just had to get a MT this time around, feeling a bit "adventurous" and wanted to try something different. On your question 9krpmrx8, white is available in Japan for the R3, however not in the US (maybe next year?).

This is my third day driving and all I have to say, amazing! Waiting to reach around 500 miles (as suggested by many in the forums) to get an oil change and complete the break-in process.

I think white is only available in Europe or maybe Japan for the R3. I know you can't get it in the US on the R3 but they should offer it. I know I've seen a video on youtube of a white R3.

 

R3 only come ins Black, blue and red for the states for now.. I always loved black anyway so I had no prob when I went for my R3

 

The R3 is called the Type RS in Japan and is available in all colors.

Didn't realize till this thread that the 09 R3 had no sunroof. Was it for weight reduction?

 

I believe this has been discussed before and i think its technically the rally model so it does not have a sunroof, however the r3 weighs more then the regular 09 rx8 due to the different body so i dont quite understand why they dont offer a sunroof add on with the r3.

 

^ My friend is looking at the outgoing MS3 and it doesn't have a sunroof either. Must be that they are the rally versions.

But you're right, they should offer the sunroofs. They are expected in higher-end cars.
