New Guy

Hey guys,

new to the Rx8 as i brought it home 1-1/2 hrs ago. i'll post pictures tomorrow. as far as i can tell it has.

1. Mazdaspeed replica body kit
2. Borla catback
3. K&n intake. hate it.
4. seibon CF hood. don't know the model but it has 6 large vents in the middle (3 on each side) and 8 small vents (4 on each side) up closer towards the windsheild.
5. blue underdrive pulley kit. probably AP as far as i can tell. agin it's dark.
6. purple (black light style) interior lights that i can't wait to replace.
7. Enkei NT03+M wheels with yokahama something or others.
8. some type of cross drilled rotors. they look like **** probably cheap nonames so they'll be replaced with better soon. i don't skimp on safety.

i have and will continue to SEARCH !!!! this is not my first car or first time through the caar message board.

impressions so far. not a fan of the delay between the right foot and the throttle. i've only noticed something like this when driving our new ambulances at work.

question: is this thing a drive by wire throttle? that would explain it as our new trucks are throttle by wire @work.

other than that love the car so far. a lighterweight flywheel would solve alot of that delay and make it much less noticable.

any thoughts let me know. other than that, thanks for dealing with my stupid questions that will come from time to time.

no, i got it from a dealer. you can actually see it on auto trader it's from Veracka motors in Brockton ma. search before he takes it down as he has been getting alot of calls about it.

i put $ down to hold it for a month because i had my Tacoma recalled from frame rot.

the side vents were painted GOLD. God thats gross. first mod - paint them back to black. DONE!!!

oh and the seat covers must have been on since new because the seats are georgous, looks like noone ever sat on them.

edit again, not a huge fan of the wheels, i'll probably keep them for winter tires even though i have another truck for the winter.

I want the black RPF1's

intake, soon. i'm broke as a joke right now. Medic school just drained me. i'm done but not working as a medic yet so i'm still making joke $

vents. done.

Cobb access port... what can i really expect???

i keep seeing contradictions. i'm not looking for horsepower right now. trust me i want HP but maybe next summer. but what is going to happen if i get the AP? i understand it can monitor everything from the ecu standpoint so i don't need 7 extra guages in the car. but without FI what are the real benefitts?

thought you said you were going to search.

i wouldn't compare the throttle response to a work truck. maybe yours is messed up. sounds like you sorta bought it in a haste.

good luck. welcome.

well it is an actual K&N filter, and as i haven't seen a stock airbox, and all K&N "FIPK" i have ever seen are hugely overpriced. plus this is just a filter in an engine bay. not exactly Cold, dense air.

hard to explain what i'm talking about unless you have driven the new ford 6litre turbo deisel and the older turbo deisels. it's responsive but has a split second hesitation. the 8 has the same feeling, like it's not connected to the throttle body by a cable - instant, but by a wire - aka selonoid

and BTW have you tried searching for the access port? Soooo much crap garbage while trying to read info. but that's what happens when you search for anything. because we have actually typed it this thread will pop up in a search and it carries no real information about it. Yet.

coz for one theres no shielding with that intake from the engine area so all id does is suck up heat i bet ... second the filter looks really small hence hindering the flow of air ... again i cant confirm this but my 2 cents is get rid of it even if you just go back to stock ...

actually the filter is huge, just looks small in that picture and it might as well be wedged next to the exhaust manifold, it would perform the same way. it's in an oven right now.
