New Guy!

Hello,
I just became a member. I moved to Plymouth MN this past january from puerto rico. I'm a mechanical engineer and have been a car freak/modifier for the past 8 years. I just bought an 04 RX8 last week and got a pretty good deal on it. I'm looking for a dyno facility and any speeds shop you might know of around this area(apparently they are rare). I have the intention of intalling forced induction to my car. Haven't decided which method(greddy or custom) though. I have mechanical experience with custom turbo applications in on both rotary and piston engines(built custom setup with my friend on his 95rx7 which now makes 513whp and did a custom single turbo set up on my 3000gtvr4 back in puerto rico). If I can be of any asistance feel free to ask away and If I don't know the answer then we'll both learn something. Email me with any activities you guys may be having in the area. Hope to hear from any of you soon!!

Chris,

Welcome to the club!
There area few FI options available right now: Greddy, SFR, and even a new SC that Axial Flow is finishing up right now.

Do a search and I'm sure you'll find ALL kinds of cool information on them. Since you're from Puerto Rico: ¿hablas espanol? There's some pretty nice 20b conversions going on in PR these days. Did you get a chance to see any of them?

Im from st paul, and i dont know of any race shops over in minnetonka/plymouth. However, there are a few around the twin cities. I know theres one if burnsville/prior lake, not sure of the name though. If you look in the phone book, id imagine you could find something in minneapolis. check out mnrx8club.com, its not very big, but the best place to setup minnesota meets.

Yes, Hablo espanol, jeje.

And yes I did get to see all the modded Rx8's form Puerto Rico. My friend has a FD that Psiquiatra(Galdi) takes care off. I'm good friends with Galdi and would go to his shop regularly for dyno competitions and just to talk so I saw most of the fast rotaries that frecuent that shop. I have seen the three rotor silver one and the red one before it was converted to three rotor, when it still had the greddy kit. They are ridiculously fast now with the 20b but I still don't like the idea of an engine swap. I did see one that really interested me which is blue and had the factory renesis engine turbocharged by psiquiatra and was putting down between 400-415whp with factory internals at 19psi. And it had been running for a while already which meant it was pretty reliable. This kit is a custom set up that placed a big turbo in the space where the greddy kit goes with out changing or cutting any parts from the engine bay, only the bottom crossmember was modiffied slightly. This is what I'm shooting for. I guess its just a matter of fuel/ignition management, as long as the fuel is there and the ignition is controlled to prevent detonation, the renesis takes forced induction pretty well. I already got most of the parts for the turbo assembly so as soon as I start working on it I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the welcome everyone!
