Welcome, Air.
Be sure to pay close attention to this forum's STICKY threads which are located at the very top of each section / category. They'll be greatly beneficial to a newcomer, much like yourself. I even find them useful no matter how many times I go over them.
Good luck with the newly acquired 8, and please feel at home here!
Oh yes I almost forgot, like the other members have already mentioned... We'd love to see images of your lovely 8, so feel free...

Welcome to the RX8. I'm a new owner...and one month in. Loving it. But read all the threads above...and more, please. I did my research prior as I have been on many forums and owned many cars (RX is #45).
Also - make sure the threads you read contain info that pertains to your model year, transmission, options, etc. Not every thread belongs to every car.
This group of guys on this forum are all VERY knowledgeable and have years of history to refer to.
They've helped me a lot in my service, maintenance, and all the mods I'm starting. And it's only been a month!

Welcome aboard, you're gonna have a lot of fun.
As you spend time on this forum, realize that it's easy to start thinking your 8 is a finicky, high-maintenance car that you have to be very careful about. That's because people with problems tend to end up here looking for solutions; most owners without issues have no cause to find their way here.
Truth is, the car is easy to maintain and relatively trouble-free! I've had mine over 5 years now and have yet to have a single serious problem. What's more, I don't spend any more time taking car of my 8 than any other car I've owned. As you probably already know, just remember to:
1) Check oil level every other fill up; add if necessary.
2) Change oil on schedule, every 3 - 5K miles.
3) Don't turn off a cold engine - wait 3 or 4 minutes for it to warm up.
4) Don't rev high until the engine's warm.
5) Rev it all the way up to redline regularly, say at least once a day or so.
No big deal. (I've done #1, 2 and 4 for every car I've owned.)

ha thanks guys, I'm 20 year old college kid that cant really afford to break my new toy! so I will def be babying it (especially when cold lol)
car did not come with an owners manual but i found it online at mazda.com and have it bookmarked
but I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to cars, I know how a rotary engine works! I had an automtive class in highschool and did some research prior to spending cash on an expensive piece of machine.
I've had a 86 sierra with a vette engine in it, a 300zx twin turboed, a 07 4x4 chevy colorado, and now a 2005 mazda rx-8.
and im assuming theres not enough MPG or oil threads out there so ill be sure to add a couple of each in there ;] lol
thanks guys, once again proud to be here,

Gluck OP, if the car is still under warranty read all the bulletins and complain about them at the mazda dealer.
That's what I did anyway, make sure your clutch pedal isn't starting to break by the welds. If it is, complain about squeaking.
Link to bulletins.
