New guy with questions...

Hey everyone, I've been in the market for a new(er) car for a little while now and while driving home tonight i saw a beautiful blue RX-8. So I thought I'd get a little info on these cars and see whats what. First off, what is so special/different about the rotary motor. I plan on getting an auto. and I've heard people say that they make alot of power, if you drive them correctly. Another question is that I think I would get a 2004 is there any problems I should know about or anything I should look for when searching for my car? Third would be what is a good price-milage ratio? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, do the search. But a quick answer;

The key thing you need to know about the rotary is that it needs regular oil checks. Otherwise, its short on torque, long on revs, and is way smoother than a conventional engine.

An auto is not a perfect match for the rotary, but some here are happy with it. Power is relative to your expectations, but don't expect a '04 auto rotary to be quick compared to its peers. But it'll be among the best handling car you'll find at any price point.

There were some problems with some '04 auto's, so search.

Yeah let me help you out. At or MT its all up to you but people will look at your car no matter what. If you want more after-market tuning options go with the MT. As for HP on demand MT. But AT or MT this is a great car. We all had or have problem(s) with our 8's at one point or another and if you dont have some now just wait till you start modding/tuning.

As for your question's:
"What is so special/different about the rotary motor"
Yea we dont have pistions!.
"I plan on getting an auto. and I've heard people say that they make alot of power, if you drive them correctly"
This car will not make a lot of power on demand like the RX-7 of the past. But with the right mods you can get her up there. Oh and there is no "If you drive them correctly" just drive your car like you would anyother car. But remember you have to keep an eye on your oil line.
I have to say this is one great car to own. But take your time and look into this car. Best of luck to ya.
