Just wanted to say hi to everyone and hoping everyone is having a great holiday season so far.
Just picked her up last night. A 2004 Red RX8 6speed with black and red leather interior. I traded up from a 2004 Sentra SE-R and I love this car. It handles so good and blows my last car away in every category. I never had a rotary engine before so hopefully I have a good experience. I got it at carmax and I picked up a 3y warranty just in case.
Ill post some pics soon!
I did have a few questions though
1. do you have to use high test gas?
2. I have the Bose stereo and when I push "load" nothing happens. Does that mean I don't have a cd changer?
thanks in advance

Well, I guess i'll be first to say welcome and enjoy the hell out of it.
1- 91 octane never lower, the engine hates it.
2- can't help there, I don't even listen to the stero in my car, I like the sound of the engine, intake and exhaust too much. If I do it's usually espn radio.
ENJOY

Best color choice...enjoy! Best car you will ever own...unless you buy an Elise...
Welcome and post some pics soon...
I have the 6 disc Bose CD changer...I think you have to make sure it can load more than 1...the older models don't have the 6 disc loader.
I use premium gas in my baby...only the best!

I have to use High Test during the hot months. Some people can use Low Test all year around. Give it a try if you get a sound like MIAC(Marbles In A Can) sounds like shaking a coffee can with marbles in it, real loud. Then pull over and top off with High Test and don't push it till its High Test.

Mine was built in Sep of 03, and I have the 6 disc.
With the power on, make sure you are in CD mode. See if it says in the the top left "CD IN" you may already have six discs in the unit. A lot of owners forget to remove them when they trade in or sale their car. Trying playing a CD, or try hitting eject first. Then it should allow you to load a new CD. It will say wait as it changes to the correct line up. Then load.
You have the load button so you do have the six disc.

I was told by the dealer and can recall that the 06 and up came with it as an upgrade feature that was standard.
Ok, just checked with my friends at the dealership...they will call back with the answer... Thanks!

There have been three basic packages for the 8 outside of special editions like the new 40th annivery and Shinka. You have the Base, Touring, and Grand Touring. If you have leather you have the Grand Touring and should also have heated seats and the Bose six disc changer. It is in-dash and looks just like the regular CD player. Should have a load button on left side of the disc slot.

I just shat myself
I think so, but if I remember right it does nothing when pressed. I also lack a "cd changer" decal that I've heard about..
Dammit, now I'm all curious and my 8 is sitting at a park-n-ride 20 miles away...

I edited my post to show what is included in the GT. The load button will do nothing if you are not in CD mode. Do you still have your owners manual? Read through it as you are playing with the stereo. It is not as simple to use as most multi disc changers I've seen in the past. But it is easy enough once you figure it out. My Cadillac had the same basic set up.

They all have load buttons, if it's a 6-disc it will say it on the upper left hand side. My load button does nothing as I don't have a 6-disc.
I run 87 octane and the car runs fine. Search for posts about it, everyone has a different theory. It's pretty much car to car whether yours will like it or not.

Next time you take your car in for service, ask the Mazda mechanic to print up the Mazda North America Operations Warranty Vehicle History Report (just ask for the vehicle history report) on your car. It will list all accessories that came with your car. It gives the assembly date, warranty start date, the original owners name, warranty term info, recalls, and your warranty history. It is a great piece of info for anyone buying a used car.

Here we go again.. I've got board guys saying I dont have it, and your dealer friends saying I do. Bah!
I guess when I get home I'll read the manual and see. And if I dont then I'll just shove 6 cds in there and MAKE it a cd changer!
