Angry New Higher MSRP?? Sorry if already posted...

I was checking Mazda's RX-8 webpage and it seems there is an increase in the MSRP at least for the Grand Touring Package. I didn't have my previously printed page with the prices but maybe there are some more increases there. Somebody noticed this? Why is there an increase when with the lower hp and mileage there should be a decrease? I'm so mad because of this! I want this car but why should I pay more? I saw rumors about this before but just found out it already happened. Sorry if it was already posted.

My dealership called me yesterday to tell me that a car had come in with my exact specifications. They also told me that the sticker price of the car had gone from $29,900 to $30,000.

I purchased my car on Oct. 18. The dealer insisted that the price went up on Oct. 17 on the GT package by $100. I told him I wouldn't pay it and he said he wouldn't lose the deal over the $100 difference.

$100 on a $30K car is a .33% change. With inflation being 3% a year, .33% ain't much of a change over a half years time.

I don't know about you NON-canucks, but our price hasn't raised since the RX-8 was released. Still at $39,595

Maybe because the dollar went down compared to the yen ?

The dollar has fallen pretty hard since mid-September, but I'd be surprised if this change was solely due to that. Shouldn't Mazda be hedging against currency fluctuations? They should be making a ton of money right now on their dollar puts. Then again, if they expect the dollar to stay low, then I guess they'd have to reprice.

I guess a quick way to find out is if they've raised prices on their other models that are manufactured primarily in Japan.

I think the difference is probably due to the fact that the US dollar sank a couple of percent over the last few months.

Dealer cost in Canada has actually fallen about $600 I hear. Sticker has not changed though.
