New member!

Hey guys, I have been snooping on this site for quite some time now but never posted so I decided to introduce myself. I tried to find a specific section for introductions but didn't succeed so I posted here...

I got my 2007 Mazda RX8 in October, 06 (I am now at 7,000 kms). I live in Calgary, Canada and run Nokian WRs in the winter (I daily drive the RX8)

So far I am absolutely loving my car! The only issues I'm having are with it is the transmission and it's just making noises (no slips or grinds). I had it diagnosed at Kramer and they didn't find anythign wrong so I just kept the records from it. Other things are the rattles and squeaks... but the Bose system hides those.

This is my first rotary vehicle and my second Mazda (one was a Precidia). I was mostly a Nissan/Honda guy... had a Skyline, couple 240s, few Preludes, etc. I must say though, this is the funnest vehicle I have ever driven. It's not a racer's vehicle, it is a classy comfortable car with decent performance. I also have an Acura RSX TypeS and an EK civic and they don't ever get driven hah.

If you didn't like my intro, here's a picture of what an RX8 would look like if it was in Disney's Cars (that's my RX8 photochopped)

congrats. Did you get a deal with the 07? Any reason not going for the deals in 06?

Welcome to the forum! Very nice car, when I was buying my car in dec, they had a white one just like yours in the showroom. Very nice colour on the 8. Nice to see some local guys poping up in here. Be sure to check out the Canada section.

Well, I was originally looking for an '06. But, the black in '06 had the red inserts which I don't like and they couldn't get a white one at that point so I decided to go with an '07.

In the end, I got ~ $1,500 off. Not a bad deal and not an amazing deal...well actually...this is the story. The salesman (or the salesman who shared an office with my salesman) told me that the black 2006 didn't have the inserts. I argued but he insisted that it didn't. After briefly negotiating, I got around $1,500-$2,000 off the '06 and I asked my salesman to make sure that the black had one-tone black leather. He leaves and comes back with the sales manager who informs me that it does have inserts but he has a "guy" that can reupholster the seats for "cheap"...

After this, I asked for the same deal on the '07 and got the '07 in white, which happened to be in stock.

eug - Thanks for the compliment, however, I cannot take any of the credit for it. We had a whole thread where people requested their cars to be photchopped like the "Disney's Cars" cars and I was lucky enough to have Soupey photoshop mine.

XDEEDUBBX - Very nice photoshop!

GT34 - I will definitely check out the Canada forums and will try to make it out to some of the meets. I have only had a chance to chat with rotten42 since he's a fellow beyond member.

I love the white. I have only ever had black cars before I bought this one but I don't think I can go back to black.

I'm surprised they are only dropping $2000 off 06! Out in BC, dealers are advertising 06 GT for around 6k off. But cash only.

Hah, no, that was only a small bit into the negotiating process that the salesman went to the manager and at that time I asked about the seats. After that, the conversation switched over to an '07 model and that's all they wanted to give.

Here you go rglbelg

That was another chop from someone else though.

Edit: Zoned, it happens when driving not idle.

Second edit: Since I'm on the topic. It sounds like a rattle inside the tranny at lower RPMs (2500-3500) at 50% acceleration through most gears, I say most gears because the noise is very subtle and is hard to hear so in higher gears, the speed noise overpowers any noise that can be heard from the tranny. Also it whistles. I overreacted the first time I heard it because it weas strange to me and I thought my tranny was bad (I still hate the sounds) but the transmission is fairly smooth otherwise.
