Hello everyone,
I've been lurking for a couple of years now but haven't posted due to not being an owner. That has finally changed. I wanted to post my adventures in getting my 8 but when I hit page 3 in MS Word I decided it was too much for the forum. So, in order to save your space and still tell my story I posted it on a web page. I'm sure a couple will get a good laugh and some will shake their finger at me but here is my story.
Thank you all for the information I gained about this car. It greatly helped me in my purchase decision.
Here's the "Getting Her Home" story.

Sweet story. made me picture that i was there with you haha. Looks like you have some type of rubber lip protector on ur front fender. Anyways, good luck with it. THe 8 is defintely very forgiviing, clutch and gears... Also be sure to rev the stink out of it when its broken in. Get the rotors going.

wow... you went through a lot to get that car... and you made it back in one piece. Congrats and good story!
This was the best part:
I let out a “Son of a Bitch!” to which I hear deadpanned from Delain “I see your ‘son of a bitch’ and raise you a motherf****r”. I am always amazed at how calm she stays and her trust in my driving…I on the other hand am not so sure.
she's a keeper.

Wow. Great story. Just makes owning that car even more dear to your heart. She's one special girl.
You did the best you could given the circumstances. Kudos to you. Let me say from experience that snow tires will transform the 8 into a snow machine. I live in northern Indiana where lake effect snow is a near daily occurence and my 8 is great in snow. I highly recommend Pirelli Snowsport 240's.

dude that mullet is unreal Iowa must be the wild west. And the name...Xandreal? Where did the come from? Just asking, its pretty out there. Interestingly, I picked up my 2007 Phantom Blue Mica 6 speed under similar circumstances on the same day, January 13th, unwilling to even look at other colors. Good luck man.

As I read the story over before uploading it I was laughing at parts. Especially Delain’s deadpan comment, she’s always good for some comic relief. Although at the time I almost missed it. I also remembered pretty much all of it in perfect detail. I’m also hopeful that I’ll never have to make that kind of trip in any car again. She’ll have good snow tires before she sees ice or snow again (thanks for the recommendation Ramsey). And maybe I can find a weatherman that is somewhat accurate .
To answer a couple of questions:
TimzSI – Xandreal is a bard I know in the Sony online game EverQuest. Players of this game know bards to be extremely fast, agile and almost always fearless. Xandreal, in the game, is also a fairly sexy looking character (for a toon). So I felt the personality fit.
Unknown Driver – Other cars haven’t really interested me. My Escort has 180K miles and only ever needs oil changes (I bought her new in ’91). That on top of still getting better gas mileage than the sticker said it kind of made other cars a silly consideration. However, the look/performance of the 8 and always wanting a car that stuck out in the crowd made me reconsider.
Not asked but noted…the hair. Yeah some consider it silly but it’s kind of grown on me . I just like long hair, if it’s well kept. I thought about growing the front to get rid of the mullet stigma but, as funny as it sounds, I can’t stand hair in my face.
