Hello everyone just a quick ? Is there any way of telling if a new 8 on the dealers lot has had all the re-call work already done to it? I mean should I get somthing in writing noting the history of the re-calls before the car was even sold.
My longtime girlfriend is going to buy a 8 before the end of the month we have both test drove the car and I've read her both good and bad posts about the car just so she will not be surprised if any probs do occur.
She likes the Sunlight Silver 6sp touring pkg and several other options and I like the car payment being in her name:D .
Thank You
Jeff

it's probably not a bad idea to get something in writing stating the recalls were done. after they did the recalls on my car there were 2 stickers under the hood saying that the airbag and dynamic damper recalls had been done.

The dealer is required to put the stickers on the underside of the hood when they do the work. If the car she's looking at is within the VIN range for the recalls (they don't affect EVERY car out there) then the sitckers better be there. If not run, don't walk.

You could have the service manager print you out the service record of the car in question. They just enter the VIN. If any work has been done on the car, including maintenance, it will show up on the service record/history printout.

Just find the thread that leads to the TSB's. Print them out and take them with you (just for insurance). I'm sure they will tell and perform the work (if not done already) if you just ask !!!
