Ordered my 8
Hey, we just ordered an rx8 and it should get here tommorow (weds) night and can be picked up on thursday. Got an 06 white with touring package and rear wing. The dealer also agreed to put tint on it for free becuase they sold an 06 white with sport and rear wing (and tint) half a day before we came to buy it after we'd been looking at it for a month.
I attached pictures of what we're trading in. Its an 05 subaru legacy. I think I got it to look pretty nice: cleared the headlights, s.techs, and tint.
Anyways I was planning on getting an 06 wrx but the insurance rates are pretty bad and really I've never had a rwd car before and want to try it out. Another problem that I had is how much subaru is watering down the wrx. Around here you can only get a TR which is basically a wrx with a ton of crap ripped off of it and you don't really save much money. Even the rear wing is optional even on the REGULAR wrx now... and thats been a characteristic of the rex as long as I can remember.
Another interesting project we've got going on is the GTM. Right now we've torn down an 04 z06 with 3k miles on it in a garage. The gtm is basically a kit car from a cobra replica manufacturer. Mid engined rear drive layout... 2200lbs and it'll have the ls6 (400hp) from the vette so it should move pretty well. I did attach a picture of a finished gtm and our wrecked z06 before we tore it down as well. If any of you are interested in seeing more about the gtm you could check out the manufacturers website at www.factoryfive.com
Another determing factor between the wrx and rx8 was the community. Lets face it: nasioc is one of the worst places on the internet to be, and rx8 web and club seen like some pretty nice places (although i haven't even registered at web yet).
Hope to see you guys around the forums some more..
Oh and one more thing... wheres the cheapest place to get clear corners + bulbs? The cheapest i can find is $75 and it seems like others have found better deals.

I got it this morning! Drove it all day. This is definatly the nicest thing I've ever owned in my life and this has to be some of the best fun I've ever had. After reading about sports car, bench racing, researching, and all of that crap... I finally have a real car. When you're into cars you definatly appreciate every single part of the car. This is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I can't wait to get up early tommorow and drive it some more.
Ended up with an 06 white rx8 with touring package. If i had to come up with ANY negative thing about the car it would be that its slightly difficult to see the radio/hvac display when the sun it shining in, also I was sort of surprised that the cloth seats didn't have manual lumbar support (even my subaru did) but overall the seats are so awesome it didn't matter... just after driving the thing nonstop all day it sort of started to hurt.
Anyways I didn't really have time to take pictures or do any of that crap during the day but just now when I got home I snapped a quick pick.

congrats on the arrival and welcome to the club. As i learned first hand, the 8 really is one of those cars you have to drive for yourself to realize how much run it can be! Despite all the negative that surrounds the rotary engine and the low torque it makes, it all just seems to disappear when you take it out down a winding road. And hearing that engine whirl so smoothly all the way up to 9K...it's just indescribable!
Congrat on the new car. Enjoy that 1000 mile break in...it's awefully hard to keep the engine below 4K! I've got less then 100 miles now!

I see the panels stacked to the left and was just wondering , is your house built with thermal tech insulated partitions? reason is those panels look like simular panels used in the construction of a house I know of thats highly energy efficiant due to the wall and roof design.

ha no my drill isn't for sale, after driving it today some more... Racing Beat: It's REALLY hard to not accelerate under full throttle. I'm only at 500 miles.. I'm doing my best to be easy on it but it just keeps asking me for more, pretty sure I'm going to get arrested. If it's any consolation I haven't been doing long burnouts with the rev limiter pegged :/ Haven't dropped it either. My idea is that if you never get to the upper rpms where the other ports open, how will they ever get broken in?
Easy E why'd you swap for the gray... the white looked like it was in one piece.
Oh and those are pannels for a hotel.
