New member to say hi with few questions.

I am picking up my 2008 Grey 6MT this weekend. Had a Mazda 6 before, never even test drove a rx8, but I know it will be a blast to drive.

Pick up the deal on 2008 with big rebate ($12,000 off cdn). Can't wait to see my new ride.

Questions.

1. There are many concern about the Engine Seal. When that happens, does the car simply lose power but still drivable?

2. Does any one have kids with this car? If so, anyone made a mount for DVD players for the kids in the back? :p I will try to custom made one for my kids later and will post up. Just checking to see if anyone have something already.

3. Anyone has Grey with Caliper painted black or dark silver that can share the picture? That would be my first mod. :p

I am sure I will have a lot more questions later. Will post up picture when I get my new ride.

Hi to everyone.

Actually, it's $14K off. MSRP GT+moonroof is close to $42k + Freight/PDI at $1500.
I am getting it at a hair under $30k including Freight/PDI.

Mazda Canada is giving out $9000 rebate for dealer to clear out 2008 rx8.

It has 60km but it's never registered. When I had my Mazda6, it has 80km+. I am used to the stupid Mazda dealers here somehow used the car a little. :p That never happened to my TSX or Pilot. :p it was both 2km when I pick them up. Even with my CBR600RR, it was 0 km when I picked up my previous year model. :P

Welcome bro, It's annoying. I bought an 07' in September 07' and it was over $42K .

Oh well, though.

Come check out www.bcrx8.ca, we have a local RX8club with a TON of knowledge. Good to see another lower mainland resident with an RX8 able to use the internet

Hi to everyone.
2:Dont get a mount for a DVD player, even though they have came out with some super slim DVD roof mounts...like 1-2 inch thick...just get a METRA KIT (search) and get an indash DVD player... (I have a daughter....and you can always use the portable DVD players that come with straps that strap to the rear of your seat....

3: I have a Winning Blue with Calipers painted black...hope these pics help and by the way (BTW) those are R1conepts premium rotors, Paint Used for Calipers is $7 500 degree engine paint primer....and $7 500 degree enging paint high gloss black....available at AUTOZONE

To answer your first question, the engine has a life span pretty much for a MT of anywhere from 70k+ miles before it needs a rebuild typically but research on here to find the best ways to keep it going. Think of it as a typical full service like most cars with 105k mile timing belt/water pump service. Your covered though with the 8yr/100k mile warranty on the engine. After breaking it in dont be afraid to take it up around the redline every few drives and keep the revs up higher then you would in a piston engine. The engine can run when its actually suffering from low compression, it will be hard to start usually and feels like its slower then usual. It typically suffers from carbon build up on the springs for the side/apex seals on the rotors but as I said read peoples tips throughout this website. I build the rebuilds for mazda warranty/retail but even I have learned from everyone here a little. Oh yeah be very carefull with mods, dont void the warranty with engine mods, make sure you swap factory parts back on it when you take it in for service(I did not say that btw lol)Good luck.

Sorry if I hurt your feeling. but you enjoyed your rx8 for almost 2 years earlier than I do.

lol. i sure can do more than internet. I follow way too many forums nowadays. :p bcsportbikes, hondapilot.org, revscene.net, archosfan.com. I think I should stop posting on Internet and just go out and drive or ride.

Thanks for all the help. ZumnRx8, your rx8 is my most favorite color. But I don't have much choice for the price. :p

Sleepy-z, I won't be doing anything on the engine for sure. just small appearance mod. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks. METRA KIT looks like a good choice. But it's going to cost me a bit time and money. I was thinking about something between both rear passengers can share in the middle. I have a boy and a girl.

I am thinking about something that mounts on the center console in the back so they can both see it closer. I have a Asus EEE 1000HE with 8 hours of battery life. If I can mount it in between, that might be good enough for them. Just a though.

Will get my mechanical friend to make up something for me.
