New Owner. 2007 Silver RX8 Sport 6MT
I doubt any of you would remember, but I came on this forum several months ago inquiring about a 04-05 Auto RX8 at a local dealership. Well they flooded that car so I kept looking off and on. I just took a round trip drive in the Jeep I owned to Dallas (16.5 Hour round-trip) to pick up a Miata for a friend for autocross. Not only did the Jeep KILL my back, but watching the Miata got me eager to get myself into another sports car.
So just a couple of days ago my roommate found a 2007 Silver RX8 Sport with 15k miles on it for $17k about 3.5 Hours away in Metarie. So we drove out today to look at it and not only was it an amazing deal, they gave me a real good price on my trade-in so I ended up financing about $18.5k.
I've been wanting an RX8 since I test-drove an old manager of mine's '04 back when they were brand new.
Sorry for the long story, I'm just excited!

Compared to what I was driving. My Jeep I got brand new and was paying $75 more a month than my RX-8. Get better gas mileage in the RX-8 too. Insurance is a bit more, but manageable. And it has half the mileage my Jeep had

I know this is my intro thread. But I've been trying to find some info on this:
Will my 2007 Sport come with a LSD? Both tires are almost bald so I am guessing so, but I am curious.
Do I need to let the car warm up (to about the middle of the gauge) before driving anywhere?
What kind of oil is best? I know 5w20, but should I go with Castrol GTX? I've heard some go with Synthetic but I read that Mazda didn't test it so I shouldn't use it.
I've been trying to search to find these answers but I haven't found anything real 'concrete'.

Hey man, as they say heres "Welcome To The Addiction".
im also pretty new to this. i got mine last october in baton rouge.
as far as warming up, i usually give mine a few minutes but i dont let it get all the way to the middle of the gauge.
and as far as oil it seems that everyone is split on the decision. this is one of the latest write ups i've found http://www.rotaryinsider.com/faq-tac...-oil-gap46.htm.
hope it helps, let us know if u have any more questions. and enjoy the car!

Get some new tires, seriously, you may think it's OK now but bald stock tires will be really dangerous on a wet road. And you sure don't want a blowout where you live, those freeways running over swamps for miles and miles with no shoulder give me the heebie-jeebies.

Yes your car has an LSD, all MT versions do.

Don't worry, tires have already been ordered. They should be in tomorrow or Thursday and I will be getting them mounted as soon as they come in. I learned my lesson when I gave it too much throttle in first and the back end got squirrely.

Haha, no. The car was offered for 17k, but book value was over 18k. I owed on the Jeep more than it was worth but at the end of the deal I paid what the car was worth with no negative equity.. Technically.. If that makes any sense..

Awesome! Good to know there is at least one other board member here. Do you hang out with the 'lot people'? If not then perhaps one weekend i can introduce you to them. Great bunch of car enthusiasts.

Okay so after a tank of 'spirited' driving I got 13.6 MPG.. Still better than the Jeep though :D
I've already got the Mod bug.. I've been contemplating what I want to do first. Seems most do pulleys first as they are the cheapest. But I am getting mixed answers. Some say only eccentric shaft pulley, other say all three. Some say none at all.. I'm lost..

I did want to debadge my 8, but I found out that all but the 'RX-8' have posts. Any idea if there are any alternate ones I can replace them with? Like a Rotary for the Mazda 'M' logo or perhaps an 'RX-8' one where the 'Mazda' one is?
