New owner (silver 6spd manual)
Well, I decided I'd better introudce myself and thank all of you for helping me to purchase the most entertaining and fun car I think I have ever owned. So thanks .
I first saw the RX-8 at a Las Vegas Motor Trend Car show. I remember sitting in it and remember how "tight" I thought this car was. Now I actually own one. At first I was shopping for an Infiniti coupe, or VW product that was fun to drive. So I visited the local Nissan dealership to test drive some cars. One of the salesmen took me out to a nice dark blue infiniti G35 coupe even thought it was automatic I still wanted to take it for a spin. I am a manual guy thats for sure. Come to find out that we could not take the Infiniti out for a drive because it actually didn't belong to them yet (?).
So I walked around the lot and happend upon a VR 8 and decided to take it for a test drive for the heck of it. Boy, was I hooked! That thing had cat like reflexes and took corners like other cars wished they could. The salesmen noted my interested by the huge smile on my face as I drove it. He tried to get me to take it home but I declined. Now that I'm older I think a lot more before I act. So I told him I would lilke to do some research on it before I decided on anything. I knew it was a rotary engine, but thats about it.
My research led me to all of you wonderful folks that helped to me decided to bite the gas mileage, engine replacement prone, oil consuming bullet and purchase a car that is almost as fun to look at as it is to drive!
Last paragraph. Today I brought the 8 in for some maintenance (which I found out that it didn't need). This lady walked into the parts dept. and asked if that was my car. I said yes. She exclaimed "That car is so beautiful, you are so lucky to have a car like that" "What is it?" She just kept going on and on about it. When I told her it was a 4-door I think I blew her mind. I took her out to show it to her since she thought it was a 2 seater I have never had such an experience with either of my 15 + cars.
Thanks again everyone,
Lovin the 8!

lol, same reason why I'm here. I also went to look at vw's, the GTI in particular, but they only had R32's and one auto GTI, the rest were Rabbits and Jettas. Since I didn't have much planned that night, I walked next door to the Mazda dealer, tested a '04 Victory Red GT 6mt and was sold within a few miles of driving.

Not to hijak, but wanted to say something about comments related to this post:
I actually don't get that many cool comments on my car! haha, well it's BB and I wanted that colour because i felt it wouldn't attract quite as much attention as a flashier colour and I wanted to be a bit incognito. I still get heads that turn when I drive by ... and I can guarantee they're not looking at me! But kids seem to REALLY love my car. They all think it's a bat mobile and even though I can't hear them cause my stereo is on, I see them mouth the words "awesome car!". So it's all good.
