Thumbs up new owner with some thoughts

Hello! This is my first post on these forums and it's a positive one. To start I'll let you know that I purchased a 2005 RX8 last weekend and I'm loving it. It's definitely different than any other car that I've ever owned.

I'm not new to sport cars or cars that require some maintenance so things like the ignition system and other little quirks are not quite so shocking to me.

To the people that complain about these cars being slow in a straight line I say this: Drive a different car. These things are by no means slow on acceleration and if you want a 1/4 mile car go by a 5.0 (or if your in the Austin area go buy my old Lightning).

It's got a reasonably usable back seat, a door to get to that back seat, and a usable trunk. It's also one of the more unique looking vehicles that you see on the road today and the only one that you can buy that's a rotary. Has anyone looked at the new motor trend? New car buyers guide, RX8 gets 4 stars. the 370Z? 3 1/2. Ford Mustang? 3 1/2. Evo? 3 1/2.

Enjoy this car for what it is, spin it up every once it a while, and let it warm up before you drive it. See you guys on the road.

This will be my "first" car, if you don't count the hand down I got when I first started learning how to drive. I test drove this car once and I instantly fell in love with it. Do you think this is something I should get with the fact that it will be my first car?

Welcome....

It's aways good to have 8 owners who understand what these cars are all about.

Same as in the '06 issue. That's where I first learned of its existence. Two weeks later I took a test drive in one. Two days after that one was sitting in my garage. Zoom!

make it happen, youll always take care of your frist car. Just make sure you have the money to take care of it. and considering an 8 is your first car, chance are youve probably got the $$

Thanks for the replies. Here's some pics. Sorry if they look like crap. I'll take some more tomorrow in better light and when I have more space than my garage. lol.

It's a 2005, 6 speed w/leather and nav.

I can’t agree more! Where I live there are no roads where you can do 150 in straight away but, I do have a lot of roads that tell me to do 20 in the turn but I do 50. So the choice was easy.
