New RX-8 in 2008.

Whilst signing up for a new RX-8 yesterday, I was told that RX-8 imports to Australia would finish up at the end of this year. Local dealers aren't taking new orders, all RX-8's coming into Australia from here on in have been pre-ordered by dealers.

Auzoom has seen paperwork indicating that Australia will see a new RX-8 in April 2008. At this stage we don't know if it'll be a freshened up Series 2, or the first of a new generation.

Get your local spies onto it. We wanna know more.

Cheers.

^^^No, the 40th Anniversary model is now yesterdays news.

It's the last of the current RX-8....we believe.

Sounds about right. Most generations of car design go for 4 years before a freshening up.

This is pretty monumental if it's true. I thought the general consensus was that we weren't seeing anything new until 2009.

Still a rumor. You would think if they were at the point of ceasing current gen RX8 production we would have heard of it by now rather than through a dealer..

except that everything about the kabura so far has said it is NOT using a rotary engine..
which would mean it's not part of the RX line.

FTFA:
Power is supplied to Kabura concept’s rear wheels from a 2.0 L version of Mazda’s MZR DOHC 16-valve engine. The Kabura uses 19-inch 245/35R19 Bridgestone Potenza front tires and 20-inch 245/35R20 tires at the rear. While this concept has been assembled with several MX-5 chassis components, the basic dimensions fall between the MX-3 and the RX-8. As a sport compact, it will slot below the RX-8 in the Mazda lineup.

Old news.

Most people have thought this might be the next rx7 for some time now.

I doubt very much that Australia would see a new RX-8 much before the US did...if at all.

Make sure someone lifts every single tent flap at SSX....the car (or pics of it) is out there somewhere!!

maybe they did develop the renesis 1.5 version that zoom mention?

New colors and seat upholstery doesn't really need testing.

Maybe, just maybe, Mazda is gonna pull something BIG out of its *** at the Tokyo show. Saying previously that the rotary won't go into the Kabura shape might have been a spin smoke screen.

no point running around in circles on it though. We'll find out sooner or later. Hopefully not MUCH later...
