New RX-8 Owner

Just thought I'd say hi to everyone. I just bought my RX-8 (Touring) a few hours ago. I'm coming to you guys from MR2 country so Mazda and the Rotary is a little new to me. If anyone is in the Tucson area and wants to show me some good cruising spots just send me a message. Thanks.

color? options? pics?

I knew just short of nothing about the rotary until I started researching to buy. Everything you might need to know can be found here. Be sure to start w/the FAQ pages, there's lots of info and links to all things rotary.

Thanks. The rotary isn't that new to me actually. Just the RX-8. A friend of mine used to own a 1985 1st gen (12A) which I used to work on all the time. Right now I'm not planning on doing anything to the car. At least until the warranty runs out . Here's a few pics:

I had to get rid of it though. I didn't feel like driving it from NC to AZ. Plus it had over 250k miles on it. It never fails. If you take care of your car and do regular maint. Then they'll last forever.

That's the only thing... Mine has everything I wanted in it when I bought it used except that I wish I had the black and red seats. Oh, well.

FYI, a number of Velocity Red owners actually chose to buy cloth seats just so they can get red/black leather aftermarket. Apparently, for the price of the Mazda red/black leather option, you can get aftermarket red & black leather that's nicer—higher quality. Red door inserts, too!

is that right?

I have been wondering what my silver 8 woiuld look like with a black & red interior. I remember seeing a 1994 RX7 on a used car lot that was silver with red interior and it looked awesome. The only thing my RX8 doesnt have is leather interior and an upgrade would be something i would like to do eventually.

Yeah no need for the wall-to-wall carpeting. Just get some 303 aerospace protectant .

Same here. Sold my '91 MR2 T a few months ago and got myself an '06 Shinka. The next day driving to work I was a bit creeped out to see seats in my blind spot I still have withdrawal pains and visit mr2oc.com (my sn is IL_MISTA_2) at least once every couple of weeks, but it goes away with every compliment you hear and every high speed turn you make. I hope you enjoy your new car! I'll be learning about the rotary right along wth you.

I've noticed a growing trend of former MR2 owners here. And I'm not surprised at all.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I have to keep the dash mat on during the summer months though. Ask anyone who lives in southern Arizona. If you have a black dash and you don't want it cracking and fading within 2 years you need a dash mat. The sun just bakes everything out here.

Welcome and thanks for the pics. Btw, you have a Grand Touring and not a Touring. You have leather and heated seats.

Sunshade and Aerospace 303. Dash mats are icky. A sunshade would be better anyways cuz it blocks the light and decreases the heat in the entire car.

Clear corners too!

What year?

I'm of the opinion that the orange corners look great on VR.

New subdivision, eh? (no landscaping yet- or is that zeroscaping, Tucson-style?)

Welcome! You'll find an interesting group of people here. -J.T.
