My 1-2 shift on my 2005 feels weird too. Isn't nearly as fluent as all the other shifts, but I too looked it up and saw that a lot of people had the problem. I had a friend test drive it and said it wasn't a big deal.

And for all we know, even if your car is the one that was bouncing around, doesn't mean there is something wrong with it. The low price could be a giveaway of a lemon or maybe they just wanted to sell it...

My 1-2 sucks too. There is a really long thread about it. I took it in and they told me to go synthetic. I did, and it still doesn't feel right. It does it much worse when it's cold. Now that it's summer it pretty much only happens on the first shift. I decided I just didn't care that much.

Well good news is that I'm gonna get new synchros and a starter kit, hopefully that'll take care of my problem. They keep going on and on about my clutch, even though they haven't determined that is even a problem, they just want me to pay $700 for a OEM clutch. Which brings up a new dilemma, if I should just buy a ACT clutch now and have them install it while they are doing the synchros since they can't charge more labor since they already have it all opened up.

A clutch is a wear and tear item, but how can they charge you for it when they sold it to you like that? It would be one thing if you came back in 3k miles with "clutch problems", but they should pay for it.

I took it to a different dealership. I bought it from Ford dealership, but they didn't have a Mazda section, so I took it to a Mazda dealership to do the warranty work.
