New RX-8 owner
Whats up everybody? I'm new around here, and just bought a used Black RX-8 with 31k. I'm also learning manual for the first time. Always had a thing for this car. I always read how under powered the RX-8 is, and how the 350 is much faster car. Well, I was in for a treat when I got on the open road, and opened up a little bit. My best friend has a 350, and drove my 8, and he was pretty shocked. It may be low on torque, but that rotary builds up so much momentum at 5k revs, and keeps going. Only had it for a day, but can truly say that I love this ride. See you around the boards.

Thanks guys! I'll have some pics up soon. I want to have my car spotless, and get it detailed. Then, I'll have my boy take some great pics with his pro digital cam. No mods or anything yet, but they'll come in time.
Question guys, how is the clutch with your 8's? Does it have a low engagement point? Is it normal for it to be soft, or will I need some clutch work?

I intend to baby the hell out of it. Before I got the car, I couldn't stop looking at power mods. I'll have to master it stock before I even think about more power. My tune may change in a couple of months though, lol.
Took the car to work today, and experienced traffic in a manual for the first time. I didn't do too bad. It become more natural every time I drive it. A G37 wanted me to run at the light, but I passed. Not affraid to admit I'm a novice, and it would be stupid to street race, especially on local roads, at this point. Does any one here have some track time?

Thanks Bumble Bee. There is something about a black car that does it for me. It's almost like a tuxedo effect, but sporty at the same time. The thing about the yellow is that its so rare to see. Personally, if I went to a dealer before seeing the color in person, I probably wouldn't pick it as my first choice. But when you see one on the road it comands everyones attention. I had a choice between red and black, but if I got red, I may as well go up to the troopers window and ask for a ticket, lol.

PUT ON YOUR SEATBELT!!! Don't you see the little warning light!?
Grats on the car.. and yea, we build power quickly in the right gear at the right time. You'll hate it when you misjudge a corner and use the wrong gear, but otherwise it's awesome.

Thanks for the help guys. Maybe I'll hit up E Town in NJ after the winter.
I noticed this car eats oil. I guess this is part of the rotary combustion. I stoped off at Mobil, and picked up 3 quarts of 5w20 Clean Performance oil (non-synthetic). Getting on the highway, I redline in 2nd, and shifted to 3rd. The check engine light flashed for about 15 seconds, and went off. Is this normal, or did I f*** something up? The light went off, and felt normal afterwards. Should I take a trip to the mechanic to be safe?

Me too. The attention I get from other cars gets annoying though, lol. A 335xi pulls up at the light, and I dont see him. When the light turned green, he floors it. WTF? Didn't even know we were racing, lol. The car is a beautiful ride, and I LOVE the sound of the screaming rotary. How's it treating you so far?
