Smile New RX-8 Owner - 1st Post

Hi there!

This is my first post as I just picked up my 2004 Sunlight Silver 2004 RX-8 from Wayne Mazda in NJ yesterday.

I have dreamt of owning an RX-8 ever since I saw the concept car a few years back. Over the last year, I have spends many hours reading threads on rx8club.com. I have learned so much from this site, it's incredible. Thanks for the help!

Anyway, I purchased a slightly used 6000K Sunlight Silver 2004 with Blk Leather and Grand Touring Package, Navigation, Appearance Package, Rear Wing Spoiler, 6-Disc CD , Rotary Accents and Fender Strakes - basically loaded for 25K. If I had bought new, I may have omitted some of these items, but since they were there....got 'em! I was told by the Service Manager that the car did have the M-Flash as well as the hot plugs. So hopefully all will be well. Between the M-Flash, Plugs and Start/Shutdown techniques that I've learned on this site, I will hopefully not find myself initiated into the "flooded" club anytime soon!!

Now, it looks like snow season in my area of NY will soon begin, so I need to get some snow tires and all weather mats ASAP!

Thanks again to everyone on this site; without my rx8club education, I probably would not be riding home in my RX-8 tonight!

Welcome to the club. Keep reading and learning, and get your winter tires quick.

Also, I don't know how close you are to Lakewood NJ, but there's a meet in the works for early May. It's a good way to find out what upgrades you like/dislike and hang out. Check the Northeast forum for more info. Good luck with your 8!

Congrats to you! I know I spent some time reading the discussion before I bought my baby. You can't get better information anywhere than from the people who actually own the car.

Congrats! Like they have told you, get some snow tires QUICK!!! (Not that I know about that but I hear the stock tires are for warm weather.

This site is very good and I too have learned alot. You said you got the 8 because of this webiste...why not send a letter to Mazda (heck why don't all of us people that got the car because of this website) telling them that so maybe they will allow one of their RX8 engineers to hang out here.

Congrats again!

Congrats! I picked one up just like it last week. Cold here where I'm at, so I havn't driven it much. Same deal, learned so much from this sight. Feel like I know the car without even driving it.

Congradulations, go for the synthetics in the trans. and rear diff. unless you can verify it's been done already. That helps with some issues that have been raised and also the cold weather operation.

justice4RX8: Sorry about that - the salesman told me that a lot of calls came in after I put my deposit on my car!!! But I needed this car badly!!*

Now, after only 2 days of driving fun, it's painful to see her getting buried under the snow of this blizzard....guess I won't be driving for a few days
