New RX-8 Owner
Hi, everyone. I got my new 2005 MT Sunlight Silver GT last week. Didn't get the spoiler or any other appearance enhancements. I love the way the car looks in stock form. I'm thrilled with it. What a fantastic car. Can't wait until the break-in period is over.
So far I am getting about 18 mpg in mixed driving and have been using premium (93 here in GA). I need to get an MP3 solution soon.
The only problem I've noticed so far is that I keep detecting light scratches on it. It seems like the paint scratches very easily and I'm going to have to buff them out this weekend.
This forum was very helpful when I was making my decision. It's a great forum and I'm pleased to be part of it now. What finally swayed me towards the RX-8 is I test drove it. I had to have one after that.

congrats on the purchase. there are ipod/mp3 connection solutions available. just look around the audio/video section here. also, i see you are in georgia. we have a pretty active group here. if you want to get involved, head over to http://www.garx8club.com. its a great local complimentary site to the rx8club. there's also a regional section at this site.

CONGRATS!
the paint scratches are difficult to avoid, because the car really is low on the ground. (i noticed them on mine as well.) i've learned that i sleep better by not scrutinizing the car so much all the time. LOL. ignorance is truly BLISS... hahahaha. but, i know you won't be able to resist looking when it's still new.
i have just over 1900 miles after 1 year. and, at my last fill-up i calculated my mpg at 18 as well- for mixed driving. i think ur mpg will depend on the both the type of driving and also what rpm u shift at. if u shift around 3k rpm u'll get better mpg, but not as much FUN... i've been gradually pushing up the rpms to break in the engine. so, nowadays i'm shifting at around 5k and sometimes 6k. (in the break-in period u may want to keep it under 4k tho.)
have fun withe the 8 and searching this site. and again WELCOME!

Thanks everyone for your warm greetings. It is indeed a great experience owning an 8. My favorite experience so far is when I'm busy at work or someplace and it's time to leave. I remember then that I own a really cool car and am about to have a lot of fun.
