New RX-8 Owner... Thanks for Your Help!

After three weeks of research and Q&A on this forum I am now the (EXTREMELY) proud owner of my own RX-8. She's black and has a ridiculous amount of attitude. I have named her "Lilith "

I've had it since Saturday the 18th, 2:00 pm. I drove away with 93 miles on the car and now have 230.

I can not put in words how excited I get when I drive it and hear the motor, the transmission, the exhaust and feel the car ride. What a dream!

The dealer was great and I have zero complaints.

I must thank all those who've replied to my questions. You were a major factor in my decision. Thank-you.

I now look forward to being a positive contribution to the forum and to soak up as much information as I can regarding "our" car and it's pluses and minuses. I will have many more questions as I learn the car. Thank-you in advance for the support.

Best Regards,

Dale (VooDoo)

I don't have an RX-8, but have taken a couple of test drives, the most recent of which was a few days ago. If I was to buy one in the near future, I'd be looking seriously at a Black with the Sport Package. The lack of head room is a concern with the sunroof. I also don't have a real strong desire for a sunroof. I'll save my top down driving for my Miata!

I'm curious what other cars were you looking at and what were you driving before? Best of luck!

I went without the sunroof and have alot of headroom. I almost always wear a ballcap and plenty of room to spare. Sunroof not a priority for me though. I am sure it is for others...

I was driving a VW Jetta, turbo 5 spd. Very quick but ran out of motor fast and the suspension was hash.

I drove a 350Z, Subaru Impreza, VW Passat W8 and a Pontiac GTO. Each had their good and bad points. Lilith (her name) had the best overall package.

Good luck with your search and decision. Research, that's my only advice...

Best Regards

VooDoo-

I drove the Z and G35 Coupe when they first came out. While they are excellent cars, the RX-8 has moved ahead of them on my list of preferences. I want something sporty, but also with a little practicality. I test drove the new Subaru Legacy turbo and loved it. It definitely passes the performance and practicality test! It's looks are rather generic though, especially in comparison to the 8!

While some may find the look of the RX-8 to be a little too extreme (negative comments seem to center around the arched wheel wells), I think it looks amazing. Incredible design by Mazda! I can fully appreciate the fact that drivers of this car must regularly receive comments/questions about it. The design is so unique.

Well, it was a Miata, then a 6 wagon, then it was the Darkside. Made the mistake of just sitting in one in our search. Brought the chief to a dealer and had her drive it. I think we got 1/4 mile down the road and she had this smile that I had not seen for a long time. Well whimsical won out and now we are very happy owner of an RX-8 yellow GT as of 9/19/04. Ran it through the canyon I run my MC through and can't wait until I can really drive it. Look forward to interacting on this site and sharing any knowledge I may gain to you all.

I currently work in a VERY small redneck town and those who've asked about it don't even know what it is! I love it! :D

the arch wheel wells are one of the best part of the car....especially on the front!!!

Besides, it doesn't matter what people who are not part of this cult think...Its what you think.

It was the same thing with my boss (wife) She used to drive an MR2 before the kids came along. Now she drives a Minivan....when we went for a test drive, she was smiling from ear to ear and travelling well over the speed limit...there was no need to look at the Mazda 6 from that point on.
