New Rx8 05 brand new.. very good deal

got 6-speed 05 model with gt package and spare tire for 24.7k
Just to be fair - this was a new dealership and they had the extra cash support to send this car out the door. Flood Mazda, RI (funny name for a rx-8 dealer, now that I think about it).

My Deal
My deal was in the same price range. Mine was a new '04 6MT Touring sitting on the lot in Jan. 05. I negotiated $23,500 and told them no way I'd pay the doc fee of $300. After working the deal pretty hard the salesman came back and said "they won't let me do it without the $300 doc fee." I probably should have walked out, but by that time I had RX-8 fever and I knew I was making the salesman work hard. So I said OK. I just figure I paid $23.8 and I'm happy as a clam with the car.
As a former salesman I know you never get the best of the dealer. A good deal is when both parties are happy, so I got a good deal. Another lesson I learned from selling is once you make the deal - never look back.

that happens with everything dude. When things are first released they are always expensive and then prices drop down to realistic levels.
Case in point the Razr Phone. I remember when it was just out some idiots bought it for $1000 and they can't give that phone away free.

That is all the 05 is worth now, because it's a year old, but for those who are looking for a hot car for a super price, this is the way to go. The money you save is simply before you drive it off lot, as opposed to after you have owned it for a while. As long as you plan on keeping the car for many years, you reek the benefits of buying a leftover model, and truly save that money Unfortunately, deals like this are why the rx8 is becoming very bad at retaining it's value. Either way, congrats, and enjoy.

Mazda has a history of shafting its previous customers like this. Two years ago I bought my Protege5 with leather, moonroof, CD6, ABS for $13,400. MSRP was $18995. Just a few months earlier people were paying $17,500 to $18,500 for the car. Then Mazda started throwing big incentives on the car to clear the lots ahead of the Mazda3.
New or slightly used, the RX-8 is an amazing value any way you look at it. If you don't like the rate of depreciation, then buy a nearly new one.
