Hey guys, i've been in the market for a sports car for quite some time. Done my research on many many many models...

-Honda S2000
-RSX S
-G35/350z
-SRT4 (Waste of time)
and many others

Was wondering if there is anything that i need to keep an eye out for when looking for an RX8...Type? maybe a GT model? What's difference between Touring or others? all 6 speeds? Specific years?

Will most likely go boost with her, and if there are any companies or parts/pieces that are worth while looking at please by all means, throw them out...Price isn't a biggie, been saving for quite some time...Thanks all!!!

 

If i were you id get an 04 model in good shape , like paint and what not with good mileage with the recall done. Make sure its 6 speed , hope ur getting manual right ? That would save u a lot of cash , more room to modify. Also the new rx8s didnt really change anything through its whole life so might as well get a used one if u dont mind. Oh and test drive it before u make ur decision...people always complain about lack of power on the rx8 when it should've been evident on the time of purchase...But yeah , great car imo! But the 350z isnt too shabby either ...all good cars imo , just dont get fwd hehe (srt4) lol.

Oh also depends what features you want , sport package is the lightest type of rx8 , it has almost no features (i dont think it has HIDS either). I would get anything above sport package , it all depends what u want , like navigation and what not. The cloth seats are lighter then leather too , if your a performance freak. Hmm what else.... the moon roof/sun roof adds a bit of weight as well. Uhhh cant think of anything else... Oh and for parts... What kind of parts? Just browse through there. I find JIC combo the best sound or the HKS+Rp cat.

are you a performance fanatic? if you are, go for the sport model without a sunroof. if you like to live a little nicer, get the gt model with the 2 tone red/black interior.

base = no options, cloth seats
sport = dsc/tc, hid, cloth seats, sunroof is optional (i dont like it personally)
gt = leather, nav, hid, power seats

tons of FI kits. petit supercharger, mazsport turbo, esmeril turbo, sfr turbo. personally, im waiting to see how the axial flow supercharger turns out.

there are tons of parts for the rx8. stop by the tech section and read a few stickied topics. (they are at the top.)

 

Awesome, thanks so much guys...I'm a total Power freak, and I'm so so so glad that there's lots of FI kits out there for this car. I'll float around the forums some more and see if I can get my feet wet on some of these topics...thanks again guys and happy holidays

 

Stay away from the GT as it weighs more, if you dont need all the useless stuff like power seats, hids, leather, sunroof etc etc...

 

I went with the Touring trim. GT only adds power leather seats and navigation. I wanted DSC and preferred having the sunroof so Touring best fit what I was looking for. If you dont care about the sunroof you can get the Sport with the Performance Package to get the DSC and TCS.
