new rx8 haggling

Sounds like a couple good deal on new RX8's... I certainly wouldn't pay more than $25k for a fully loaded one... they lose value really fast man. 2 or 3yrs back Mazda had like $8k in rebates or something... guys were getting loaded ones for $22k or so. Just scout around for an 06 or 07 with 15k-20k on it and you'll get it for $15k give or take.

I may not be able to keep the Buick considering visual inspection and smog.
Do I get an ugly 18k car with avg 30 MPG or an auto RX8 and buy the AP to increase gas milage? Hell once you get up to 22k your at 25 mpg and damn near the price of a auto RX8.

I bought my 2005 sport (equiv to a new sport+performance package) with rotary accents and factory aero kit for 22 out the door. I think the sticker was right at $29,7XX. What I did was looked on Mazda USA at the dealer directory for TX, OK, ARK, LA etc and then looked at their inventory.
I called each dealer, asked for the internet sales manager and told them I was ready to buy a car, specifically the one listed in their inventory spec'd the way I want. I told them I wanted to buy it for 22 out the door and gave them a minute to look and see if they could or not.
After about 20 dealerships saying no I found one in San Antonio that was ready to do the deal, I put down a deposit on my CC and flew in later that week and drove it home. I wouldn't waste time walking into local dealers to haggle, just call around and know exactly what you want and the incentives going on to have a reasonable $ in mind. At the time I bought mine some local dealers were doing 6-7K off MSRP in the newspaper ads, I ended up getting $10K off.

May or may not be a deal, I don't know - but I got a new velocity red GT at Galpin Mazda on Roscoe. List was a touch over 33k. I got it for 30k minus another grand off for financing through Mazda (which I paid off a couple of weeks later.) It had the wrong CD player in it, so when I took it back to get the right one, they gave me a brushed aluminum fuel filler door and a chrome RX-8 license plate holder for my trouble.
I'm happy (although the CD players in Mazdas really suck).

I just wanted to point out that $15K for an 06/07 with very low miles is a bit of a stretch. That's all.

well you stated anything close, and last I checked $15k was right next to $16k

Find a relative who works for Ford. Then you can get it under S-plan, which is essentially invoice price. If there are any incentives, you get those, too.
I bought Zoomy, an '06, for $25.4K out the door in July '06. MSRP was about $29K. There was something like $1000 in taxes and $300 dealer paperwork ripoff in the OTD price, so it was nearly $5K off sticker. $1500 of the discount was an incentive. There was also another $500 incentive available had I financed, but I didn't think of the "pay off the loan as you drive off the lot" gambit.
A good negotiator could probably have gotten a better deal, but I have no skills at that kind of negotiating. It was easier to have arranged for my brother to have gotten a job with Ford 12 years earlier.

$7000 off of a fully loaded model is not unheard of.
Invoice is a good deal. If you got it at invoice, you can be very happy with your deal.
Those who wait for the right circumstances to come along, you can go back of invoice. But that requires a dealership having a motivating factor.

Maybe since you said $15K I should assume you can talk them down to $13K?

I bought mine new for less than $1000 more than what they sell for today on the used market. So in 2 years, I have lost very little, and I KNOW the car has been taken car of.
I got a great deal on my car, it just took a long time to make the deal happen.
Personally, I would never own a rotary engine that was not brand new, or rebuilt as soon as I bought it. Once you are starting with a fresh engine, and know how to make them last, the 13b is a great motor with a nearly perfect reliability record.

The Best way to negotiate in my eyes is over the Internet. Negotiate with the Internet manager at the dealer. Look up what other 07 are in your area and ask them for quotes, tell them your ready to buy.
I bought a my 05 GT MT that way. Bought it in Jan of 06, I was looking for a lower trim level and worked a deal with one dealer after negotiating with two other. I was about to close the deal when I call a 4th dealer who was closer to me but I believed would not have the best price. Found a car he had at Mazda.com and sent them an e-mail. Several e-mails later we closed the deal, not only did they beat the other dealer by $2K they gave me the top end trim level.
Bought the car for $26,300 out the door tax and all, the negotiated price was around $24K and the car was listed around $32K.
As for waiting for the 09, it does sound like it has some nice mechanical upgrades but you have to settle for the fugly body work and interior. I think I would stick with the 07 myself.
