New rx8 owner :D!

Hey guys I just got a 2004 RX-8 about a month ago! So far it's stock but i'm planning on getting a new spoiler, strakes, new rims, some interior lighting, new amp and subs, and probably alot more later on hehe. I love the car it really turns heads! I just have the problem of shifting in high RPMS there's a bad grinding noise, but hopefully they'll be fixing that soon at the dealership.. Hopefully no cost to me. But just wanted to post an i'm a noob here thread haha. Here's a pic of my car. Oh and I live in the Cleveland area so if anyone lives around here, hey!
-Michelle

It is the syncros in the tranny that are going out. Same thing happened to me, they will probably pay for it; otherwise, it could be around 3k after all is said and done.

Welcome by the way.

I could see them trying to tell you nothing's wrong and it's the way you shift. See if you can take one of the techs on a ride to show them the problem.

Does it grind in different gears or just a certain one? And how many miles on the car?

there's about 29k miles on the car. And the sound happens when shifting on any gear third and up at rpms higher than about 5k. It's really bad at rpms higher than 7k. First of all the shifter vibrates really bad when I shift at high RPMS and sometimes it's hard to get it into gear and a weird highpitch whirring sound happens. I'm going to take it to another dealer and actually show them the sound. Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

Wow, I'm sorry. If the gears are grinding though, it is highly likely not you. My brother drove my car the other day, and he sucks at stick, and he didn't grind. You want to get it fixed soon though, mine was like yours and then when I dropped it off at the dealership, they couldn't even get it into first gear.

You could have them drain your tranny fluid, that should show them how bad of condition it is in. Mine was a silvery bronzy color, it should be clear.
