New Shinka
Hi everyone, I just bought my RX-8 yesterday and am glad to be part of the crowd!
I have an 06 Copper Red Shinka, its awesome! I love the polished aluminum wheels - btw I'm accepting advice on how to best take care of these!
I bought the car from North End Mazda in northern MA, good guys, and gave me a good deal overall. They have sold at least 5 RX-8's in the last month or two - don't know whats up with that but maybe we're all a little crazy up here.
My car appears flawless - we'll see how long that lasts! But I'm really impressed with it, I love the drive and the looks, and cant wait to finish the break in period!
So, look for me in MA!

Great car and great color/package choice.
Would you be willing to share just how great a deal you got?

TomAssBender ,
I just picked-up a GG Shinka a week ago today and pulled $5796.00 of the top of the price, which stickered at $34, 776.00. This is one reason folks are buying the RX8 right now, and the other is its obviously a really cool car thats great fun to drive. Not trying to divert Kimifelipes thread, but just giving you some numbers you may be interested in.

I am pretty sure I could have gotten a better deal, BUT:
- my A4 was still cherry and at 79.5 k mi, not getting any more valuable
- I will never buy a car with a wing, and there were not very many cars available - no GT's without a lot of crap like the appearance, wing, Nav, all that crap, excepting 3
- The three GTs without all that stuff all were all black interior - didn't want that, and were silver or black exterior - didnt want that
- I realized 06 inventory was getting limited, and that I should move now rather than take a chance of NOT getting my Shinka exactly the way I wanted it - with only the shinka pkg. So, I didnt want to take the chance that by the time I was able to save another grand or two by selling my car to the right guy and getting a touch more in rebate or trying to get a car at a loss for the dealer, my car would be gone.
Anyway the car I got seems to have been in the showroom for ~ 6 mo or so. The paint is just about flawless, as are the wheels.
Anyway that s the story. These guys are really nice, and so are the service guys - the rotary guy (at least one) has been around a long time and seems like a pretty serious technician - pretty sure he's a master technician.
Anyway if you cant figure it out by now I am pretty picky about what I'm dropping 30 to 40 large on and I got just what I want, and a very good price, so I am happy. Sure I probably could have saved another grand for gas, but it wasnt worth the risk.
Now I am so pumped - and at least a couple of my friends are totally jealous!

So anyway thanks guys for the recommendation to buy winters - the dealership actually did suggest it but I am all over this stuff anyway and they figured out pretty quickly I know what to do.
Anyway we were waiting since tuesday for them to go get the car, and I found an excellent deal on a set of mazda 3 wheels with some bridgestone LM-25's on them in 205/50/17 - this is the size I wanted for my Legacy GT for winter (gotta dump the stock crap rubber asap), so I scored a set of 1500 mi old winter rims for the shinka and a set of 1500 mi old winter rubber for my other car, all for about $75 less than I was going to pay for a set of winters for the GT in the first place.
Score!
Anyway I picked up the wheels wed afternoon and as soon as I got back to the office, I ordered my shinka's winter rubber - Contiwintercontact in 225/50/17, going on my 17x6.5 M3 wheels.
In fact, I'm having all the tires mounted on the winter rims for both cars in the morning, and afaik it is just in time for some snow early next week.
It's gonna be a good month . . . .
LOL

Next stop is, um, less sexy (work with me here . . .) 17 inch M3 rims for winter. I have high hopes for the rubber I'm mounting =)
NEXT after that is to figure out how to hard wire my Valentine into the fuse box.
After that I have to add a few touches to the interior pick up the visual interest a bit.
What I'd really like to do is mod the trunk entrance to make it easier to put my hockey bag in there but I guess it is like asking for better gas mileage, huh?
LOL
Lets talk about fun mods later
