New Shinka Owner
Hi everyone. My wife and I just bought a new 2005 Shinka (manual transmission) yesterday. Only option is rotary accents. The car's quite great, although since we didn't finish with the paperwork at the dealer and take delivery until 11 PM last night, we haven't had much of a chance to drive it yet (and my wife has absconded with it to go to work this morning, so I'm stuck here posting on forums )
There were a surprising number of Shinkas still in stock here in the LA area. Using Mazda's web inventory system found 5 (now 4 ). And the deals were quite good - we managed to get it for $650 below invoice with no haggling (Internet quote) (plus an extra $1K off for financing through Mazda) which was about $1K below Carsdirect's price and a lot more than that off Edmund's TMV. I qualify for the Mazda S-plan through work too, and the dealer price beat the plan price. So I'm pretty happy about that. Not as happy about the trade in value (2001 Mazda Protege ES, manual transmission, which doesn't sell well here in LA), but we got the firm quote before we even told them we were trading in a car, so it's not the case they were just compensating.
We noticed before we took delivery that the car had a lot of scratches in the clearcoat - like the dealer had use a greeny sponge to wash it. We noticed that on all the RX-8s on the lot, and on all the RX-8s at another dealership as well. We got them to setup an order to buff it out for free, but is this a common problem on the paint on RX-8s?
I haven't taken any pics of the car yet, so I will post them when I have them.

I have a Shinka too. Congrats! After the dealership details it again, make sure to buy some Zaino! Once the weather gets warm here, I'll be Zaino'ing my car.
Had my car parked in the first corner spot here at work.....be prepared for a LOT of attention! heehee!

Can someone tell me if the interior of the 2006 Shinka are all the same regardless of color of exterior?
I'm thinking of getting a white one, but since my dealership has no literature on the 2006 model, I'm unclear about what the interior colors are.

shinka
I have had the Shinka for 10 months, luv it but I think the paint sucks *** I looked at it wrong once and I saw a scratch appear before my eyes dealer said they dont use lead in the clear coat anymore and warned me it was a weak point but I never thought it would scratch so damn easy I have more scratches in 10 months than my toyota that I put over 100,000 miles on, makes me sick evertime I wash it.

LOL.. no I am not jealous. Mine company pays for my car so regardless of what I got it was free. I have a loaded GT. I just think it is kinda silly. If I had a Vette Z06 - I would say I have a vette if someone asked.. And if it was completely stock, I would not post pictures since everyone knows exactally what it looks like (which is just like every other one that is the same color)
