New Spoiler?
Hey if you haven't checked out the new pics on rotary news go there. But it looks as if there may be two different spoilers. Check out the one on this black 8 if I can get it to link.
Well crap I can't do this image stuff. Here is the link

Yeah, you can't really see it too well in these shots, so I'm not sure if I care for it. I'll tell you what, though, I definitely do NOT like the funky fuel-filler door nor do I like the brake duct "slits". Maybe that'll save me a few hundred bucks on options, eh? Let's just hope they don't make us get all that junk and a sunroof just get an upgraded suspension package or something.
What are everyone else's thoughts on the new "accoutrements"?

I think the fuel door is either chrome or stainless steel. You can get the same option on the 6. I don't like it either.
I do like the vanes on the brake vents though.....pretty sweet!

The fuel door reminds me of the Eclipse. I can't imagine that going into production though. Would you pick the colour of the door, or would they all have silver. That would look really messed up with dark green paint and tan inserts. Like classic British Racing Green on its way to a rave.

That must be part of the PREG - Popular Rice Equipment Group. You get a different spoiler (the big-*** wing was not available for display at the time of the show), chrome bars, shiny obnoxious fuel door and a big box of japanese character decals.

After looking at these photos:
I think I like the lip spoiler, and kinda like the side skirts...still hate the Eclipse gas cap, and undecided about the spoiler.
Edit: Also, I do not like the duct vanes.

Seriously, I don't like the fuel door or the chrome bars. I do like the front spoiler and side skirts. Haven't gotten a good view of the rear spoiler but it looks tasteful ala the RX-7 so I think I will like it. I just wonder how much of this was for the show and if you could order one that looked exactly like that one. I guess we will know in an hour or so.

No Go
I've been on the mazdausa site and in the Build and buy section, the spoiler is not an option, neither, it seems, is the metal slits aft of the brakes or the metal filler cap. I don't think the RX-8 needs it though. It looks like a Peaugot 206 Cabriolet Hardtop, which look crap.

I agree that it doesn't need any of those extras. I just wonder what the car is actually going to look like. I don't want to go ordering a car I've never seen (or felt or driven) and pay over $30k for it and be surprised when it rolls off the truck at the dealer.

Personally, take away the gas cap, and I really like it. With that black, and with the other chrome and bright pieces on the car (logo, headlights, fogs, wheels), I think it balances out very nicely.

EDIT: And notice in the pictures that the accents behind the wheels are not chromed, but rather a muted aluminum, which blends it into the black car a little better (instead of giving someone a headache just looking at it).
