New tiburon.com
So i was searching my old forum site newtiburon.com last night and run across a rx8 spd vs tib 5 spd video. So i decide to watch the clip after watching the clip and seeing the rx8 lose to an almost stock tiburon a 5 spd at that was disheartening to me but realized something had to be way wrong with that vid bad driver i dont know fked up rx8. anywho i go on reading in the forum and new.t starts bashing the rx8 and sayin how the tib w/ a little suspension mods could beat a rx8. and w/ a greddy kit the rx8s still only have 240 whp? just dissapoints me when i see my old *buddies* act like civic owners and talk trash about a car and know nuthing about it. to think i was part of that forum for years and owned a tib which i still love today

since its not a straight line car that doesnt mean that a stock geo can beat us. i realize its a straight line car but its still a quick car f.ex my buddys 2000 gt mustang w/ hypertech programmer and exhaust losses to my stock mazda when i was stock. not by much but did lose. and now a tiburon w/ the mods that kid had prolly a 15.5 .6 quarter and that mazda suposibly had flywheel intake exaust. but my point is its stupid when ppl bash cars and have no idea what they are talking about. when i know b/c ive had both in general a modded tib w/ i/h/e would not beat a stock rx8

rx8 beats modded mustang
and modded tiburon beats rx8
so what? It doesnt add inches to your dick by having the faster car, it just means you can get a speeding ticket faster and easier than others

BAHAHAHA!
Just when you think you have seen it all. I am very disapointed with the outcome. This car should have more ***** in stock form even thou it's not a "straight line car"
I am turbocharged and I can't imagine driving it with less power.

That's about right. Stock greddy turbo kit slapped on a rx-8 will make 240 whp. That's an increase of 60 whp over stock (180 whp). If you install a boost controller and increase the boost you can raise that another 20-40 whp.

btw, one of my coworkers owns a 375 whp tiburon. So if you thought that video was bad, his car would have walked over the rx-8 a lot faster.
Now, it was a 2003 or so tiburon, and the interior looked like someone was killed in it, but I don't think the people on that forum care about anything besides having a faster car.
A boost controller only costs $300-400 range. So it might as well be bolt on to get over 260

BTW, 240 whp doesn't sound like much, but 60 whp gain is 1/4th more power, and you can also increase torque by 30-40% over stock, which is where you'll get better acceleration.

the tibs are not too bad...i drove the 6speed gt and from a stop its easier to launch mildly and aggressively with the extra tq...it is a swift car but i wouldnt call it fast...i dont know how those 5speeds are tho. i still wouldnt dream of owning one...the car felt very soft and uninspired.
the comments dont suprise me on there lol...typical "i have this car so its better than everything else" attitude, same goes on here and almost every other car forum. what i hate seeing is when one person who suprisingly beats a car which is presumably greater then the car (rx8 v tibby)...then all the other owners just assume they can go out and duplicate the results...im speaking bout that one poster who said "i cant wait to run my friend with his rx8" lol, as if all tibs can beat all 8's....
street races mean squat...if it is not in a controlled enviroment where both drivers are given an equal chance then i say its not ****...thats like me pulling up next to a stang and just flooring it and claiming i beat a stang...for all i kno he prob wasnt even racing, i do it all the time....the other day a new lancer gts tried to race me and did the 3 beeps, on the 3rd beep i downshifted and just kept it in neutral and revved the engine to sound like i floored it...he pulled like 6 cars and threw the hazards on lmfao...he's prob on some foum somewhere saying how he whooped my *** lmfao

if you do basic math 3029 -2969 = 60 lbs lighter. the manufactures curb weight for the 5spd v6 is 2969, not 3015lbs. second, if you want to magazine race, motortrend has got a tib to hit 60 in 7.0, and topgear got an rx-8 to hit 60 in 6.8. conditions, driver, altitude, etc make a HUGE difference.
as for the handling.......yes the rx-8 is rwd, and has 50/50 weight distribution, and LSD. i have watched numerous battles:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=0
(watch the whole video) this video illustrates how lack of torque, and the heat soaking of the hot running rotary make it run SLOWER ON A ROADCOURSE than the Front wheel drive RSX, just because the rx-8 is more balanced also doesnt neccesarily mean its faster, but just easier to drive/control. obvious a stock rx-8 will outhandle a stock tib, but MY car has H&R springs, and eibach dampers, and I stated MY car can outhandle it on a track. i have less body roll than my roomates rx-8 and my steering is MUCH tighter and direct on the road. i dont think im being unreasonoble by saying my car can beat his on a track. given its faster in a straight line, and can probably slightly outhandle it, given my skidpad numbers are higher than an rsx in the video.
both our cars have intake, and lightweight flywheels. i have a catback and he has a highflow cat. we were pretty much equally modded, and I presented proof that a 5 spd tib can PULL on an RX-8. there were no miss shifts, and the rx-8 had a jump, and no wheel spin like me due to the fact i started at the end of first gear so the rx-8 would be in the power band. i am a car enthusiast, and on paper the rx-8 is a better car, but in the real world it is not, bolt on for bolt on mod. not to mention i average in the mid 20s for fuel economy, instead of 17mpg, which is what my roomates rx-8 gets on PREMIUM, whereas i use regular unleaded. I am not "ignorant" but proven my case with video proof and facts the support my car, and also similiar FWD cars that can beat an rx-8 on a road course. and dont tell me the rsx is light, club rsx.com says it weighs 2840lb. it is slightly lighter, but has the same weight distribution.
maybe u had trouble launching your tib, since front wheel drive takes more skill to drive at track.
either way, i still beat one in top end acceleration.

I can say that the first guy to every run against my RX was a Tiburon. It was quicker then I thought but it didn't end well for him.
I don't like to slam on any bodies car but there isn't a performance catalog that a stock tiburon has over a stock RX, plain and simple. You can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.

Damn if that was true, guys with Corvettes and Porsches would be walkin around with a 5 ft pole. Imagine someone with a 1000 hp Skyline or something
