New Tires for the casual driver
No doubt there will be some that will flame me for this. Here goes, anyway. A while back I posted a thread here to get thoughts on tires. Of course, everyone had a preference and many had opinions on others' preferences. But, what I was asking about was a good tire at a good price that would be decent for all seasons for a non-aggressive driver (my daughter). My tire shop turned me on to a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTZ's in the OEM size and speed rating. It's a non-directional all-season, pretty cool looking tire. So, I decided to give them a try. So far, gives a great ride and all the handling we would ever want for our driving style. And, what I really like is that they can be rotated more traditionally and should get a little more wear out of them.
It's a relatively new tire on the market and it doesn't come with a mileage warranty, of course. My tire dealer has a contract to supply tires to all of the local and county law enforcement agencies as well as the state troopers in the district. They all run these tires on their cars and he has had no complaints or trouble reported.
I did a search of the forum on these and nothing came up. Maybe this info will help someone looking for something similar.
So, flame away if you will. I realize this type of tire wouldn't be for everyone. But we aren't all into autocross and/or driving the crap out of our 8's.
