New White Shinka Owner!

Just got my new Shinka 2 days ago! I wanted to thank everyone here for all the information that helped me make my decision. I've been reading posts for 2 months, and would never have realized the easy things to do to keep the RX-8 running smoothly.

I'm on my way to get some premix!

Ne Neither - but "OldTimer" just got one as well. Apparantly there are 4 colors for '06 with Copper Red being the predominate one (what I have).

So you going to open up a controversial topic on day 1? There are several of those around here including Premixing, Synthetic oil, etc - might as well get into the fray right away.

My 2 cents is to not premix as it is somewhat redundant unless you are going to disconnect the MOP. Instead, I would buy a good fuel additive to add to every tank to prevent the Carbon buildup. I like and use Lube Control FP60 - the BobIsTheOilGuy (BITOG) forum loves and swears by this stuff as do I.

But hey, Welcome to the Club

There is no way you need to add fuel additive that often. Huge waste of money. Just do it every oil change.

I had a huge carbon build up problem and the fuel additive cleared it up but you don't need it every tank. A good one to look at that I would recommend is Gumout.

FP60 is designed to be added to every tank and you buy it by the gallon (kinda like premixing). It takes 1 oz per 5 gallons or about 2.5 ounces for each fillup.

If you prefer an "occasional" fuel cleaner, I would use BG44k every oil change. I use 44k as well, but less often since I use the FP60 in every tank.

I thought the premix topic might cause some controversy...

Most Shinka owners are white, I think. Not exactly a surprise. But good luck!

I too have a Copper Red Shinka. It would be interesting to know the production levels of each of the four colors. There was a white one on the lot when I bought mine, but it was AT...NO THANKS! ANyone have any idea as to where to look for those numbers? I've tried MNAO, no luck.

Only one I can give ya are the '05 numbers. They planned to make 2100, but only produced 1350 Black-Cherry Shinkas. Only Black-Cherry Micas in '05.

I found a number that says there was a planned total of 1500 Shinkas for 2006s, but I don't think that its accurate for some reason.

Pics are on the way...I lent my digital camera out. Should have it back soon. It does have the red stiching in the seats. I've been noticing a lot of drivers looking over at my new car!

I'm guessing white is the '07 Shinka Color. It went from BCM to CRM to ....... WPM I'm guessing.

(Black Cherry Mica, Copper Red Mica, Whitewater Pearl Mica)

There is no controversy with premixing. It's not going to hurt your car.

Just add 4oz of 2-stroke to every tank of gas.
