Newbie with an 8
Hi all,
Jim here and I'm obviously new to the forum. I owned a Miata for about 5 years and it was getting kinda tired so I decided to move up. I couldn't find a decent Mazdaspeed so I decided to check out the RX8. Boy was I surprised and pleased. I will be picking up an '07 Grand Touring in a couple of days. It's loaded and spotless, black on black with leather. I rate it excellent inside/out. Not sure what all comes in what builds but this one is totally nice. I couldn't believe the great ride and handling. The power is sufficient for me. It's quicker than the '97 Miata by a long shot and the 6 sp is great. It has 48,8XX miles on it. Not sure what all has been done to it. This guy is the 3rd owner and seems to know quite a lot about them. I've also done quite a bit of reading here and everything he told me prior is almost word for word here in the threads. He got between 17-22 mpg and the oil consumption is par for the model according to what I've read here. The engine spools up really smooth and evenly all the way to the red line. It shifts smoothly with the short throw shifter. I picked it up for $15K. I assume that was a fair price. Kind of irrelevent now. I'll throw in some pics as soon as I can. Anyhow, glad to be here.
Se ya.

Welcome to the addiction, that's not bad price for a clean 07's GT. Just keep reading like you have been doing and you will fit right in here.
It's refreshing to see you did some research instead of asking others to spoon feed you information.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The owner does have the records . He will bring all the maintenance records today. Looks like Mazda did all the scheduled maintenance up til now. Hopefully it was a dealer with a tech that knew 8's. I'll find out soon enough. There are a couple of dedicated Mazda dealers here in Denver. We're closing on the deal tomorrow and I'll take some pics if I have a chance. Told the wife I would take her for a spin in the mountains. I have my priorities ya know

Hi Shogunshin,
The Denver/Boulder area is great! I've lived here sine '88 when I retired from the USAF. There are some killer roads in the mountains to cruise if you have they type of car or bike that would make it fun. I ran them with my Miata and am just waiting for the rain to stop so I can do it with the RX8. Contrary to pop belief there are jobs here..except for the ones that don't want to work. I worked with Continental airlines for a while until they started laying off, then I went to driving a bus and am now a Dispatcher and love it. The pay is good and job security is excellent. You can do anything in Denver from skiing to racing, Denver Broncos/Colorado Rockies baseball. (Don't start ragging on the teams you guys...I could care less.) Everything is right here. "The Peoples Republic" of Boulder is nice too. You'll know why I said that if you ever visit or lived there. This area has just about everything one would want. Pay us a visit sometime. We'd luv to have ya.
Now if this freakin rain would stop I'd go cruzin.....dammit!
Oops! I just noticed you were 21 years old..Tons of places to party and about a gazillion women. Just take a drool..er stroll.. down the 16th street mall in Denver or the campus in Boulder on a warm day...Yummy!
