Newbie with questions
We're traiding in the P5 for a RX-8 this spring and I'm wondering what I should be aware of when it comes to the RX-8. Mainly because my wife will be driving it daily. Thanks.

Just please read the manual and check the oil(dip stick is 1.8qts from H-L)as the rotary is oil injected and is meant to burn oil. We get people come on here and wonder why there oil lite came on at 3k miles, and keep on driving cause the oil-press shows good. Keep the revs-up if you want power and down if you want gas mileage. This is my 7th rotary mazda and you two will enjoy it!!!

Other than lettign the car warm down to normal idle before turning it off there really isn't any difference. You realyl only use a lot of oil if you mash the accelerator constantly. I have never needed to add oil on any of my rotary cars. I just took my 8 in for it's 2nd oil change and it was in the middle of high to low. However, the higher you rev it and the more you rev it, the more oil it uses. Daily drive I shift at 4k rpm.

Basically read the manual to be aware of all the little things. Check your oil dipstick after every 3 visits to the pump, and put in Premium with an octane of at least 91 for better performance. Also in cold weather never shut off the car unless its reached full operation temp.(basically when the cold and hot meter is in the middle.) You're gonna enjoy the 8 it's definitely the best car i've ever owned and driven.
